I’d still like to see this defense against a good team that’ll commit to interior running. Texas quietly had some success there. They just couldn’t pair it with a decent passing attack because Arch was so off.
Eddrick Houston can’t be counted on at this time, which is a disappointment. Malone...
Game went about the way I expected. Played it close to the vest. Should’ve put more points up. I think they’ll be prone to open up more now that this game has passed. The next big game, they’ll start off passing.a lot more.
Great adjustments on defense. Didn’t expect to hold them without a TD.
They’re playing the black people way. It’s fine, I can say it. I’m black lol.
Black people rules say you can stack the draw 2’s and draw 4’s. So he’s gonna throw down those 3 draw 4’s and say the color is yellow and then Uno out with the draw 2.
It’s wrong as hell, but it’s fun.
I do think Julian is helped by playing against Matty P’s defense everyday because Washington runs similar concepts with Belichick as their DC. So, if Julian completes his first few passes, we could see passing on early downs. But if he starts shaky, that’ll only reinforce Day’s tendency to play...
I definitely hear you.
But check Ryan Day’s track record with a first year starter on his first road start. 24 passing attempts for Justin. 22 for CJ. 33 for Kyle, but a lot of those were extensions of the run game with screens and short passes because the run game was terrible. And none of...
As long as the defense does what they’re supposed to do, you guys can forget all those wild passing projections lol. We’ll probably get a version of the offense we saw against Texas. Conservative. Hoping to establish the run and hit some underneath passes with one or two deep PA passes a half.
I said they were small because he was playing well earlier in the game. Maybe just fatigue from the first game of the season and he’s playing more than he has in a few years. I’ll be watching and rooting for him this season.
Late in the game, he was making a lot of mistakes. Going the wrong way defending the run, didn’t get enough depth and gave up a crucial 3rd down conversion because the QB threw it right over top of him.
The ability is definitely there though. Just has to clean up the small things.
It’s not a talent gap. It’s a system gap. It’s not like they have a boatload of college athletes they pump out.
And a D7 school playing a D1 school isn’t fair nor safe.
