  1. Game Thread Ohio State 28, Troy 10 (Final, Sep. 20)

Where did he bash the team? How about respect for other people's opinions rather than if you do not post exactly what everybody else does, then go elsewhere. I have seen namecalling galore here and most of it is aimed at tbone, not the other way around; is that being respectful? So if you want...
  2. Game Thread Ohio State 28, Troy 10 (Final, Sep. 20)

I find it highly amusing to see a board who prides itself on NOT bashing coaches, players and other posters have all the heavy hitters come out of the woodwork when anybody dares to question the coaching staff and it's failure in the 3 biggest OOC games in recent memory. I have read the last few...
  3. Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

That is a bet I will take, not a result I will enjoy by any means but we cannot ignore what we see on the field. Our O-Line is overrated, it is good when Beanie is in there, and average when he isnt. One look at todays game is proof positive. An elite line like maybe our freshman recruits may...
  4. Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

Hate to admit it but I can no longer ignore our dismal O-Line play against lesser opponents in so called warm up games. If we are really an elite team we should be blowing them off the line on nearly every play, not just when we feel like it. On the other side of the ball the DT"s are getting...
  5. Underclassmen Declare For 2008 NBA Draft

Now that bastion of sports authority fox news announces Koufos will declare for the draft (but no agent yet so just testing the water I assume). I will have to move him up closer to Lebron who ALMOST went to tOSU as one of my all time favorite Buckeyes.....not...I will reserve that for the likes...
  6. Scholarship Entltlement

Let's get back to my original statement that I do not want the COLLEGE teams i root for to be full of Mr 1ad's and to the premise that scholarships, not spots on the team, should be offered to those who are at least on the surface serious about enrolling in school to get a degree. Mr iad on...
  7. Scholarship Entltlement

Well Dr Ruth, my resentment comes solely from the fact that I do not wish college athletics to become NFL/NBA/MBL junior. Just because I do not agree with you no need to get snippy. I assume you love OUR team as much as I do, and as stated previously the kids are great guys, it is the concept...
  8. Scholarship Entltlement

How did I make any wide-sweeping generalizations about YOUR views, I dont recall saying "JWINSLOW" I dont agree with your views on life. What I did say is that I dont agree with the money-is-everything attitude with todays athlete. If that is YOUR view, then I do disagree with that. You said...
  9. Scholarship Entltlement

Lets not get personel here bud, like you have never made a typo in your life. We are "mediocre" now because we are left with a team who while not as talented as last year's team are also suffering from a lack of carry over players with experience because the usual crop of sophomore who would...
  10. Scholarship Entltlement

The question was give me an example of a school that recruits lesser talent and is still successful. Both of the teams I mentioned (and there are more), are currently ranked above us and many other teams because they recruit kids who are dedicated to staying in college. By the time they are...
  11. Scholarship Entltlement

So when the rule, rather than the exception, was for a STUDENT athlete to stay the whole four years for the scholarship they were offered, Ohio State was just barely making it along and was really close to shutting the doors of higher education. Give me a break. Does the one-and-done player...
  12. Scholarship Entltlement

With a little math skills here I would say that leaving after your freshman season would be leaving THREE years early. Hence the one-and-done theme here. I am not bitching about Ghoulston leaving after his junior year, the threat of a career ending injury is very real in football. Not so much...
  13. Scholarship Entltlement

You can spin the facts any way you want fellow, but one scholarship offered to a one-and-done, is one scholarship that a true student/athlete was denied from getting. And believe it or not some kids who want to go to school are denied admission because of numbers, and anybody who is in class...
  14. Scholarship Entltlement

Of course you are assuming we will become mediocre because we pass on one-and-done. I can see quite a few top 25 teams that "settle" for lesser talent, but play as teams because they are loaded with junior and senior kids who took their scholarship seriously and stayed for their commitment. We...
  15. Scholarship Entltlement

Sure they put money into the university coffers, I can understand your point. But how many spots on the team did they keep a real student/athlete from getting....three. It's COLLEGE athletics people, 3 kids out there were denied a scholarship because it was given to 3 guys who obviously had no...
  16. Scholarship Entltlement

I do not disagree with anything you says above, remember that I said that these seemed to be great kids. Nobody is doubting the effort that they put into their short stay in a Buckeye uniform, but you are missing my point. Don't take it personal like I have anything against the kids per se...
  17. Scholarship Entltlement

First of all these kids are not employed by tOSU, they are kids who are being offered the huge gift of getting a free education in exchange for them showcasing their athletic prowess while respresenting Ohio State. Second of all, I said that I didn't begrudge them leaving a year early...
  18. Scholarship Entltlement

  19. Ohio State vs #14 Wisconsin (official game thread)

Unfortunately this is gonna be a problem with any team that is loaded with one and done players that may give them a good run one year but leave the cubbard bare for the next. I am obviously not a fan of this philosophy and wish that our coaches would not recruit players with that mentality. I...
  20. If YOUR kid was offered a scholarship to a rival school....

If my son was a tight end with a good set of hands, I would strongly encourage him to go anywhere BUT Ohio State, otherwise he would get my honest opinion that although I would love it if he choses tOSU, any decision he makes would get my full support.
