How you know your IT Dept. sucks...

Not trying to be a jerk, but you should keep in mind that dialup is 56 kilobits/second (kbps). It is still a terrible problem to have, but it is never a good idea to tell the IT people technical stuff when you don't have your technical stuff right.

    Customer relationship management (CRM) database

Thanks guys, I'll have to look into the demos that I have as well. It is a smaller-medium operation, and it will have to get customized some. That's the part I'm not looking forward to. I'll be away most of the weekend, but I appreciate the feedback. I'll PM if/when i have more questions later.

    The Battle for Mobile Search

Google mobile search can be nice, but I personally don't like it that much. I nearly exclusively use Google on a PC, but mobile is a different story. It could be real useful on a cell phone as it optimizes the target page for a mobile browser. However, I have a Palm TX that deals with real...

    Customer relationship management (CRM) database

Anyone had experience with a good CRM database? I'm looking at Oracle's Siebel (which may be out of the price range), Sage's ACT!, and FrontRange's Goldmine. If anyone has any experience with these or any others please let me know. It would be very much appreciated.

    CD Burning Question...

Eh, True. I hate the flash CD's. They will still usually put the real files somewhere on the disk, not always though.

    CD Burning Question...

There is always a way to burn what you want, you just have to find out how. :wink2:

"Acquired" a copy of Windows Vista

I haven't messed with Xubuntu or Kubuntu. I started out on Mandrake (which is KDE) and I liked that a lot. But I just stuck with the standard gnome on Ubuntu. We used to have Debian running X in the lab here and I didn't like that at all. It was just a matter of already liking what I saw in...

    Just installed Debian GNU/Linux

I use Ubuntu a decent bit. It is built on Debian, however, I've used both and Ubuntu is far ahead in user-friendliness. In linux you can do anything you want, you just have to know what the command is and how to use it (probably the hardest step for people new to the OS). Ubuntu fixes this...

"Acquired" a copy of Windows Vista

I forgot to mention another main selling point. Speech recognition. If this feature works well, it would probably be enough to make me upgrade.

"Acquired" a copy of Windows Vista

Not really good reasons, but these two reasons will probably sell the most copies. - It's new (obviously) - It looks cool (it really does) Technical selling points (I did not test these and/or have them on the release I used to have) - Better security (this is highly debatable) - Tagging...

    WP Doc

Yes, it's the $$. It's a proprietary format, so in order to use it you have to have the micro$oft programs. Of course the open source community has reverse-engineered the .doc format for limited use in open office. WP is probably a Corel Word Perfect document. Just another proprietary...

    Free MS Office?

You don't need Open Office to print a pdf, get PDF creator. It's a free "printer emulator" that "prints" to pdf files. http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

    Bluetooth ready notebook

They make a good number of things with bluetooth capability. Most often used are cell phones, pda's, keyboards, mice, and headphones/headsets. It's just a wireless standard that can be used for many things. They even make sunglasses with bluetooth capability...

    Palm with wi-fi connection.

The Palm TX is great, I have one myself and love it. Unfortunately, like IAB said, it does not support what you are talking about. Edit: I probably shouldn't have, but I was assuming that you meant the logon was a windows-type authentication pop-up as opposed to j-script* or something else...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070110/ap_on_hi_te/cisco_apple http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6250511.stm Wow, talk about a first class moron. Being sued for using a trademarked name is silly? Only if you're name is Apple or Micro$oft...

    iPod's Security Code Hacked

Actually it's even easier than that. Instead of the whole burning/ripping process, all you have to do is select the songs you have, go to the "Advanced" tab in iTunes and click on "Convert Selection to mp3."
