Agree completely Mili.
I think he is a terrific kid in every important way and I'd love to see him bust out of this slump and dazzle folks. But it's been a real long slump and I don't think it's unfair or mean-spirited to suggest JT try something new.
It is a shame that Zwick hasn't connected with Teddy effectively yet. But it is great that JT has got those plays in the package. At some point Nitro will connect with Glycerine and the explosion will be a joy to behold.
Zwick 2 Ginn, Let the Fun Begin!
Great gets, guys. It's good you're posting these pictures. It gives Lydell a chance to see those holes ...for the first time.
Running face down during games, he misses 'em.
Give me a break, Toledo Blade! Dissing the Wolf-smacks' on-the-field logo?! Puh-leeze.
Amato and his North Carolina State fans should be flattered that tOSU was anywhere near their goofy-ass logo. That was the biggest, richest game they've ever played at that piddling little stadium. NC...
If we absolutely, positively, have to have Lydell in the line-up -- because he's a blocker or a captain or a senior or whatever -- FB might be the answer. Let him pick up blitzes on draws and screens to Pittman or downfield passes to Santonio, Bam, Roy or Teddy. Even let him run occasionally...
Great point, Mili.
There are a handful of teams that make the pre-season and early season polls simply because of their traditional reputation among sports writers who don't take the time to consider their votes carefully. It's one of the advantgaes of being a "storied" program. Because...
You're right, Stow. Even though I said "nearly half", I'm still exaggerating somewhat.
But take a look at this map and you'll see my point. If you let me define 'northeast' a little loosely -- to include Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and northern North Carolina...
Oh lawdy, this guy is good! Unbelievable! You know that every team D-C plays is stacking up against him ...and still he's gone 1100 yards in his first four games.
Thinking about Javon running behind this year's O-line class for four years in the 'Shoe is making my head spin. I need a...
It's mighty nice hearing words like these coming for a NY coach. I happen to be a big proponent of tOSU recruiting in the Northeast -- it's where nearly half the kids in America attend high school and tOSU is the perennial NC contender that is nearest their homes -- and think that's one of the...
Wow! Are we getting jaded, Buckeye Planet? I was out of town for five days and Doug Worthington drops all the way down to page two. Well, he's back on page one now ...bump.
Doug: Great choice, for a whole bunch of reasons. Great school, terrific coach and teammates, national stage to...
You can only be "ripped off" if someone takes something of value from you. These early polls are of absolutely no value to tOSU. Therefore, no rip-off.
The only polls that are of value will be released in late November 2004 and early January 2005. The first will effect which Bowl tOSU plays...
Agree, Jax. This is only a football game to those of us who don't live in Ivan's path. To those who do, it's a life-and-death circumstance.
As to the game: I've seen great quarterbacks like Brett Favre and Terry Bradshaw have terrific games in the rain and wind. But I wouldn't count on...
We've been waiting to pass judgment on Ross for four years now. I've made my judgment. He doesn't have it.
He can't find holes. He can't get outside. He's hesitant and then makes bad decisions on direction. He runs with his head down and eyes to the turf, not up and ahead looking for daylight...
Good post Brutus Bobcat. Every step a roll-out QB takes reduces the size of the field he can throw to. Unless you're Favre or Bradshaw, the throw across your body to the opposite field is nearly guaranteed doom.
So if that's the Marshall game plan, it's real good news for EJ Underwood and...
We have Coop to thank
Nothing -- not Clarett, not the NY Times, not Irizarry and Guilford -- nothing hurts us as much as the annual whuppings we took from scUM toward the end of the last century. Tressel's 2-1 against them is a great start, but we'll have to beat them regularly on our way to...
GBear: This has the potential of getting very embarrassing for some of us. It's easy to pontificate and strut your football expertise on this board ...until somebody like you comes along and starts keeping score. Yikes!
Oh well ...here goes.
Iowa
Penn State
scUM
Marshall
Cinci
Fresno...
Just to add an obvious point to the reputation discussion: if we win one or two more NCs in the next few years, it will also likely mean we've beat scUM. Despite JT's 2-1 record, most of America grew up watching scUM beat tOSU regularly. We need a run of 4 or 5 straight to undo that damage to...
Reputations are important in popularity contests like the AP poll. We can either piss and moan about it or we can go out an earn a great one for ourselves.
Clarett's behavior and the NY Times article tainted tOSU's rep after the NC year. It's stinks, but it's true.
I think JT is pursuing...
