Stormin,
Good post. And not to nitpick, but there is a big difference between yanking a scholarship and yanking an unaccepted offer.
As for AMW, if the Bucks were really doing it to free up scholarships for other positions, then why wouldn't they pull Oatis' offer as well? I could see that...
It's great that he is seeing us play both games. But it looks to me like he is more interested in the teams we are playing against rather than the Bucks. Iowa is obviously one of his favorites and his home in Barrington, IL can't be much more than 100 miles from Madison. I'm sure he has some...
I would like to think it is because Justin King suddenly saw the light, but I seriously doubt it. If the coaches believed AMW was as good as advertised, they would find room for him as well. You don't turn down one of the country's top safeties just because you have a certain quota for DBs.
I...
I have often wondered what exactly tOSU football program has done to the plain dealer. All of their writers go after the Buckeyes with a vengence. Bill Livingston attacks Tressel at every opportunity.
Roger Brown is a journalist in only the loosest sense of the word. Everything he writes is...
Exactly BT. It's criminal the way Paul Keels sucked the life out of those broadcasts. I will never accept that. Fortunately Brent saved the broadcast version of that season with the "Holy Buckeye" call among others. That was absolutely classic.
Tress seems pretty grounded. He may want to just ride off into the sunset someday. I doubt he wants to hang around and hear whispers like JoePa. If he coaches another 15 years and wins another 2 or 3 (or hopefully more) NCs, he may just call it a career when we least expect it.
You guys are missing the point here. NotreDameChef is setting up his domers. If they beat Purdue, then in his universe he can justify saying ND is No. 3 in the country. And if Purdue pounds ND, then he can say, "We lost to one of the best teams, we play a brutal schedule, yada yada..." It's a no...
I think it is possible, but it would take an extraordinary set of circumstances.
His FG% would have to be huge.
He would need to make a bunch of 50-yarders, maybe even a 60.
The rest of the nation's teams would need to demonstrate just how hard it is to find a reliable kicker. To now, they...
Joe Germaine Interview
On the way out of town on Friday, I caught Kenny Rhoda (WKNR – Cleveland) interviewing Joe Germaine. It was a great interview and Germaine was pretty candid in response to questions about the two-headed monster of he and Jackson. Rhoda was discussing it in relation to...
FWIW, there was an article about Harris in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette at the beginning of the season. It surmised that if Harris doesn't show drastic improvement this year, he is gone. Apparently he has pissed some folks off (including the AD) by saying the wrong thing and by being somewhat...
One of the things Tressel stresses is getting better over the course of a year so that you are playing your best ball at the end. If this team can show that game-by-game improvement, then they have a shot to run the table. That's one reason that Wisky scares me, it is still relatively early in...
