2012 is looking up because the JUCO kids from last years recruiting class and the newly eligible transfers showed out during the S&G World Series.
Heck, the freshman looked pretty good too. Porter, Leffel, and Gretz all homered. Gretz also looked great behind the plate. Coastal...
Schedule looks good. 11 OOC games vs Regional teams from last year. And no league games with Michigan!?
Also worth noting that Texas and Georgia Tech come to Columbus in 2013, and we take a trip out to Eugene, Oregon for a three game series vs the Ducks...yikes.
It's exciting to finally be...
I didnt really know where to put this post, but along with new turf there will be some other renovations made to BDS soon. One thing for certain is a fancy new scoreboard scheduled for 2013. I know i wont miss that old piece of junk with half the bulbs out.
On paper, this class isnt as good as Kent or probably Cincinnati, but there is still time to add to our haul. I'm not really concerned if we dont land any more...Beals has proven he can spot the 'diamond in the rough' types, and he has plenty of raw material to work with in this group...
Put together a list of 2012 OSU verbals
Ohio
Jacob Bosiokovic RHP/IF (Delaware Hayes)
Zach Ratcliff 1B/OF (Columbus Academy)
Logan Bowles RHP/IF (Canton South)
Jimmy Lough RHP (Newark Catholic)
Jacob Brobst OF (Bishop Watterson)
Luke McGee LHP/1B (Wooster)
Michael Koltak RHP...
Worthington Kilbourne RHP/IF Jacob Niggemeyer (6'4'' 200 LBS) committed to OSU!!! Jacob will hopefully be a part of the 2014 class.
HUUUUGE early get for Beals and staff!
Yep and Xavier Turner is no longer committed to Ohio State. He still likes us, apparently...but X may be headed south. Lists South Carolina, Miami, LSU, and Vandy as favorites. Stinks to lose Wisler and Turner in the same week.
Yes sir. Got a series with Ga Tech next year, too. Also, Louisville is back on the schedule along with Costal Carolina.
With 11 teams competing in the B1G next year, we will have an open weekend during league play, and i think the Ga Tech series will happen in that opening.
Akron is hitting 217 as a team..that ranks 291 of 292 D1 teams.
They have been shutout 8 times this season.
Most runs they have scored in a game this year is 5.
I'm jinxing the hell out of us..ain't I?
Not much you can say about that one. To give up 4 runs with 2 outs in the ninth just sucks.
5 of the 10 Hoosier runs were unearned..not to mention that 2 runs scored via wild pitches. We gave this one away. :smash:
Bucks played well yesterday despite the loss. McKinney settled down and turned in a pretty good performance. The pen and defense were solid, but we just couldn't get that big hit with RISP...so close.
I don't like todays pitching matchup but anything is possible.
An all around great performance today by the Bucks. They beat a very good pitcher in Blake Monar and they made it look easy.
The Bucks executed to perfection on offense and Drew Rucinski turned in his best performance as a Buckeye, imo. The wind was blowing out to right, but Rucinski was...
The Redhawk's rpi is around 200, but they are much, much better than that.
They have some pop in their lineup, and they run very well. Outside of Kent, the Hawks pitching staff might be the best in the state.
One big problem..they stink in the field. And while they have a couple of guys...
Good win. Pitching was solid..guys just came in and threw strikes....very encouraging.
McKinney was excellent..looked like Alex Wimmers for the first 4 innings. His mechanics are much better than they were last year.
The guys played loose and looked like they were having some fun...
I was very worried about pitch counts during the spring break trip, so here are the combined totals for the 6 games..
Kuchno 152
Wolosianky 121
Dezse 97
Grieve 91
Minium 80
Fathalikhani 90
Mckinney 80
Geuy 72
Armstrong 57
Bobinski 39
Strayer 21
Rucinski 0
On the flip side, all three of...
I was a bit concerned about Rucinski and Grieve. I was hoping it was blisters again with Drew, but Grieve pitched pretty well vs Cal and just disappeared the rest of the trip..glad it's nothing serious.
I was very surprised to see Strayer take the mound..glad to have him back for league play...
