Cincibuck, the heart of my original question had to do with why a life-long Notre Dame fan (Brady Quinn) from an affluent Catholic family chose to attend Dublin Coffman High School rather than Bishop Watterson High School. I wondered if that decision had more to do with football Xs and Os....or...

I had everything to say about my choice of high school, ArtilleryBuck....and that was a long time ago. Having been a dutiful faculty member at 30 Open Houses, I can say, with but a few exceptions, that the process of choosing a high school has become much more difficult....For Catholic parents...

Cincibuck, I taught several National Merit Scholarship semifinalists/finalists at La Salle, but I always felt that the credit for their accomplishments lay with them...not with the school. Yes, teachers and academic programs assisted them in their efforts, but the achievement itself had more to...

Abusing my powers or having fun?

Classic, JCOSU86! I bet the guy went gator-gigging too and lost both his ulcerated legs earlier this season.

Interesting....I spent 17 of my 30 years in Catholic education at La Salle. I coached, I taught, I moderated, I served, I cared...about every young man who "chose" to become a Lancer. There is certainly a difference, it seems, between someone choosing to be in a particular school or kind of...

    Buckeyeana Specials

I know there are thousands of fans like me who collect and cherish all kinds of Buckeye memorabilia. Special in my Buckeyeana collection is a lapel pin that one of my former students found at an estate auction and gave me as a Christmas gift. The brass lapel pin, shaped like a football...

Good job, Bucktastic! ND and OSU recruited ole Herm, but he chose to the Gaels instead. Back then, St. Mary's of California played big-time football.

Kenyon Martin rips Cincy over Huggins

Just curious, Honor&Glory..... After UC, did you make it to OSU as a grad student...or is there some other reason for your OSU affinity?

Kenyon Martin rips Cincy over Huggins

I can appreciate your perspective, Honor&Glory, so my comment is not a disparaging one. During my 17-year residency in the Queen City, though, I encountered more than a modicum of OSU disdain. It was (and still is) reflected in the Cincinnati sports press and on the airwaves. UC's basketball...

To the anonymous responder wondering about the SAT and ACT data I posted on Dublin schools and Watterson..... "I don't like when people only show the statistics to back up their point. You show 2003 SAT score for Dublin, but no 2003 SAT score for Bishop. Then you show 2004 SAT score for Bishop...

Interesting perspective, scooter....Thank the good Lord, many Catholic families find ways to deal with the substantial financial burden of Catholic school tuition. I am fortunate enough to be not only a member of such a family but a Catholic school insider for 50 years (a student at each...

I'm sure Coffman, Scioto, and Jerome are fine public schools. Your comment about Watterson's "decline," however, has absolutely no foundation in facts. That Watterson's enrollment has been rock solid for more than 50 years is testament enough to the academic quality and reputation of the...

Just the senior class in 2004-05, BuckinMichigan. Bishop Watterson is a co-ed Division II school with an enrollment of 1160 or so. It's the largest Catholic high school in the Columbus diocese.
