I do think it fairly astounding that so many players compliment the program coach Lichter has brought in. It doesn't seem like it is any particular put down regarding what coach Johnson did, but rather an appreciation of the new approach from a new coach.
As we have learned over the...
"Some nice numbers by Chris Wells... 20 carries for 95 yards.... I will take that all year long... won't happen... But that is a great sign"
It is very positive, but Ozone's Mr. Ed notes his yards were against the 2's D whereas Pittman's were against the ones. I would love to have seen how...
As has generally been the case for several years, it will come down to the effectiveness of the OLine. The skilled positions have often been strong, maybe not quite the potential of Troy & Teddy, et.al., but strong. Looking at the pictures of the moose brigade they pass the look test for...
Two things from media day caught my attention.
First, Dick Tressel's comment that Beanie Wells was not going to push Antonio for number #1 running back status, although he would get his opportunities to contribute.
That's fine. That is what you would expect a coach to say where you...
Like many, I was at first startled to not see Chris Wells on the two deep. However, after I thought about it, it makes sense within the concept of how Tress thinks in such situations. Pittman and Mo Wells are upperclassmen and are known quantities to the coaches. Tress seems to give precedence...
What amazes me about this, the USC and other major program situations is that people seem not to learn from evidence and examples all around them. The kid's dad is a coach, apparently, and so should be much more attuned to the strictness and pervasivness of NCAA regulations regarding employment...
Well, this story confirms what most of us believe, I think. The components for a championship season appear to be there, but it is ultimately a question of chemistry. I believe that is not only true of the D with a lot of less tested players, but also the OLine, IMHO.
The guys there are huge...
All of my games were viewed in Ohio Stadium, except for one. That was the Rose Bowl in 1980 against USC. The crowd there was probably as loud as any in the Horseshoe, at least when measured on a sustained basis.
My older sister and I sat right behind tOSU band...on about the goal or 1 yard...
Somebody mentioned killing one's parents with a name like that. :) What are the odds that they didn't really think that choice through? Anouncers will have a field day with it, I suspect.
Go Bucks!
Incidentally, those of us who have been around the various tOSU forums for a while, particularly during the JT era, will know that darn little useful information comes forth from these August sessions (and Spring practice, for that matter). It has seemed those policies have loosened up a little...
Looks like a world class facility. Multiply encouraging that it was privately financed, because it should be a huge boon to recruiting, plus other benefits. We've waited at least 5 years for this to come to fruition...hopefully it will pay dividends immediately upon opening up.

I suspect that kind of brainwashing is a purely natural occurrence in Buckeye Nation.
Shows good attention to their surroundings on your kids part. Gently suggest your spouse "PAY ATTENTION!" :D
Go Bucks!
"20s or 30s? Heck, Mike Freeman at the same NYTimes accused OSU of that very thing back in the 02s and 03s" by Dryden
Uhhh...isn't that what I kind of addressed above? "The MC affair and accusations certainly raised the issue recently for us, but I think the passage of time and investigation...
At last a site where the prevailing theme on this subject is not to distrust the research because it was done by the NYTimes. That reflects a sort of juvenile whistling past the graveyard mentality, motivated mostly by dislike of the Times political bent. Each big paper gets its share of bad...
I have to admit that the designation "Old Fart" carries a lot broader and more complex implications for me now than it might have when I was 35. :wink2:
Of course, a good Board should have a good mix of zealous younger Bucks, seasoned middle-agers and older bedrock Bucks that can tell a...
I voted for 13-0. In truth, each season part of me would vote for an undefeated year. That is because I spend enough time reading these various tOSU boards that I fall into the trap of believing a lot of the rose-colored glasses hype I see there each year.
But, this year I see...
I voted recently, and of course the tough choice was for those categories where there was no tOSU choice. Voting for the Slugs was easy for me, but I took particular enjoyment from discovering that the majority, like me, thought Uga was a classic mascot...leading by a mile when I voted...
Those billboards are impressive. Kids need more solid role models, and especially more than just "word of mouth". Whomever put those visual as well as word messages together deserves much credit.

Back in the '60s when I was in school at tOSU, sports psychology was not unheard of, but there is no question that it now that it is based on a significant database of problems and outsomes, it is much more sophisticated now. That is not always the case with subjects or techniques of this kind...
