Obviously he'd suggest a rather large cash donation to Newspring Church. Oh, sure, they'll take a check as well. You can go ahead and make it out to cash.....
I can't see his ego allowing this to be the final chapter in his coaching legacy. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on a college sideline in the fall.
Are the Texas boosters busy loading up the brinks truck to back up to Urban's front porch? Does Urban even have a front porch anymore, or does that now belong to Shelly - along with the rest of the house?
Does the university pay the NIL money, or is that between the sponsors and the athlete? I was under the impression (perhaps erroneously) that the University had nothing to do with the putting the players in touch with sponsors/negotiations/contracts/payments/appearances/ etc.
Coombs, Day, Barnes, Pantoni, Marroti, and so on. I'm guessing each of these guys have gotten to know these recruits and their families fairly well over the past year or two. I see what you're saying about Coombs, but if he's going to flip on a dime because the Texas boosters are throwing cash...
Its disappointing to see kids throw away literal years of relationship building with coaches and staffs for a 48 hour romance with a new suitor. But you also see stuff like this in real life - that's why guys leave their wives for strippers (with or without pet monkeys)
That's recruiting for...
They're really gonna be pissed here in a month or so when Dabo leaves to coach the Raiders.... spread the word of Jesus to the great City of Las Vegas.
I feel like I should be more upset about Riley and Kelly leaving mid-season, but I'm just not. Maybe after seeing so many coaches do stuff like this I'm becoming immune to being offended by it.
So...... Not back?
(I can never keep track.)
The boosters have found a guy who they can manipulate (allegedly) and now it'll be interesting to see if they value control or winning more.
He's definitely got a punchable face, doesn't he?
He's always had a reputation of being a bit of an asshole, now with all his former assistants declining to go with him and instead choosing to work for a first-time head coach goes a long way toward confirming that perception.....
I tend to agree on Freeman. There is only one potential scenario where I can see him back in Columbus as DC, and that would be if Ryan Day leaves, opening the door for Luke Fickell to come back as HC. In that event, I could MAYBE see Freeman take the DC job.
