Could easily see this being the case. Better to lose money for one year than to open the door up to players organizing and taking a fair share of the pie for all future years.

Buckeyes are getting basically 2 free redshirt years with this kid at this point. Didn't really want him as '20 prospect, 21 seemed iffy, but at '22 he is a high floor mature player that can give you minutes every game.
Found the quote. He directly said he is looking into it. Seems to be pretty late in the process to just start looking into it, as most kids won't have the classes completed timely. But if he can pull it off it would be a good decision.
