Well you'd have to assume Kaleb is going to be our best player and if picking by position, you are putting him up against Happ, Ward, Fernando, maybe Juwan Morgan though probably more a PF, Watkins who frankly got the better of Kaleb in the head to head last year and had slighty better overall...
I think its pretty clear from all the articles that Mcdermott was a walk on his senior year. as such, his tuition had to be paid for. He was not eligible for benefits that scholarship players get like monthly stipends, paid tutors, training tables, etc. He was able to get per diems on road...
I do not believe this is correct. Because one's father/mother works for the university or even directly in the program, I don't think that means they must be on scholarship if they want to play a sport...
While its certainly a violation and reason to fire the guy, again, this wasn't "Bama basketball" paying to get a recruit to come there. This was a guy using his position within the athletic department to capitalize on a kid who had already committed to the program and steering him to an agent...
I have no idea what, if anything Bama football players are getting, but this charge is about an agent, who was trying to lock up a client, paying a player correct? I don't see any indication that the payment had to do with who he played college basketball for or that the Bama staff had any idea...
I think its premature to say we have a top 5 recruiting class. yes its top 5 now, but 23 of the top 35 players have yet to commit. some of the perennial top recruiting programs have yet to finish or even start their classes.
But regardless of that point, I'm excited for this class and I...
Definitely more skilled and obviously longer than Tate. Not as quick or as versatile a defender yet. I personally don't really think Tate or KBD are guys I would compare with him. I think Kelan Martin is a much better comparison.
I don't beleive for a second that ledee was recruited here to play center. He is a 4/3. I think he will end up playing some 5 if we go small and up tempo.
you may be right in what we could get at the center position in this class. I'm merely stating what I think it was a position we should...
yep, things looking great for liddell. would be a great class. could maybe have used a center, but I have no issues playing 2 strong athletic power forwards at the same time instead of a true center.
Would love to see someone like bilas comment on Bazley, since he is adamant that the ncaa and universities use these kids and should be paying them what they are "worth". Here you have a kid who was a top 20 player in his class and guessing he can't make a dime off his name/likeness and it has...
yeah, it was an interesting comment that he has 5 visits scheduled, but after our visit, said me may only take 2 or 3. Tells me he really liked the visit here and needs to see his other top choice or 2, then will be ready to decide. He sounds like he's ready for the recruiting process to be over.
"He could average something like 15 points and five assists as a junior."
Um, he's a senior this year. He averaged about 12.5 and 3.8 assists as a junior.
Yeah, its hard to discern much from these pre-season affairs. I mean we played everyone (including walk ons) and I'm sure coaches are more concerned with trying different lineups and getting everyone experience than winning a meaningless game. I was just curious if we were facing essentially...
Just curious, do you know if the same players played for Madrid in both games? I know the squads they are playing can be fluid as the team is essentially made up of free agents who can come and go.
No one on this team is going pro early next year. I think a 3 man class makes the most sense, though I could make an argument for taking a big in the '19 class and reshirting them.
Edited to add; I wonder if Holt is going the way of no true center. I know we have some interest in some true...
as you mention, many of these players can and will play multiple positions, but I think jallow is more of a 3 than a 2 based on what we saw as a frosh. could obviously change his game some, but doesn't shoot it or handle it nearly as well as Muhammed and Washington. I think andre and Gaffney...
Or say the best player on a team whose prospects for making the ncaa tourney the next year aren't too good, so you declare so you can upgrade your team and go to a contender. agree we don't know how this will work in practice, but the potential problems seem much greater than the potential...
