Hey guys,
Man, I wish we still had Wolfe. Our current RB is meh. Of course the last time we played you guys we had Wolfe and nothing else. Now we have QB Hare throwing to Golloday and....not much else. Nothing consistent anyway.
Based on the our first 2 games, Cardale will have enough time...
If the Heisman was awarded rationally, Smith would still win even if they lost to Michigan, if Smith played well. However, it is not awarded rationally - who knows, they might decide that Brady Quinn is suddenly good again. Short memories.
"The heck with the monster numbers, Garrett Wolfe (+5000) doesn`t have a chance at Northern Illinois.
Yes, Wolfe put up 285 yards from scrimmage against Ohio State to start the season, but his team lost 35-12. When Ty Detmer won the Heisman at BYU, he also played the nation`s No. 1 team early...
I think he may have a tough time with TE Nordin out for the season, relatively speaking. I think they missed him on those plays when they pull everybody, kind of like a sweep. I notice they didn't do that much tonight.
Just a few comments, if I may, from the other side of the fence......
Our defense is apparently not a good indication of what your offense will be like.. probably last year against good teams is a more accurate picture. As you all know, we gave up a lot of yards last year to Akron, NU...
You too, good luck against Texas. Looks like you guys have a heck of a season in front of you. Enjoy it. Most teams would kill to have the potential you guys have. To me, Garrett Wolfe is worth the price of admission, the rest of the team needs some work but we'll get there. Your defense...
Well, good game you guys. Too bad we couldn't make it more of a challenge for ya. I'm sure Texas will get a lot more pressure on Troy than we did, though he's mobile enough that maybe it doesn't matter too much. Quite an offense you got there, and the defense is probably good enough too...
Yea, he's apparently the only one. This is like child's play. I expected our defense to have improved at least a little from last year. It's hard to compare since we don't normally play offenses like this, but we're just making it too easy. You guys should have an interesting year.
We have to hope you guys run the ball.....never mind. :)
Well we were in the game for the first 5 minutes. I hope they enjoy the $600,000 they're getting for playing this game. Geeez.
Yea, I think you're right. You get a chance to go against a good running back and test out your new defense and look at a lot of players, knowing that even if Wolfe does get his yards, you'll almost certainly still win unless NIU somehow figures out a way to slow down OSU's offense.
Well...
I would think so. They like to do play-action of course, but that might be less successful if Pitcock & Co are able to bottle up the middle. We pull the guards and center a lot. We'll probably do a few screens, but those can be dangerous if the defenders anticipate it, especially with OSUs...
There's a running argument (half-serious anyway) on MAC boards that the Ohio schools seem to get the the few bowl games over the non-Ohio teams, regardless of record. Also, the Miami fans would probably dispute your comment about Miami not making Ohio a football state. You've never seen the...
Point taken. Ironically, you probably know more about NIU (and the MAC) than most of the Chicago media, since they concentrate on drooling over Notre Dame most of the time. Ohio is far more of a football state than Illinois is, prolly because of OSU plus several other Div-I programs.
I agree. If you're the #1 team in the country, or even #10, you should beat us by quite a bit, since we're usually not ranked. We're just optimistic that we might have an outside shot, or at least be able to make it a game. Personally, I don't consider that disrespect. Sometimes NIU is...
