The problem isn’t that they traded him. The problem is they didn’t bother to try to maximize the return.
This is also after investing finally in the offensive line and leaking like three weeks ago that Deshaun Watson was gonna start again as he gave them the best chance to win now allegedly...
Why anyone would want an Ohio State guy to go to this fucking embarrassment of a franchise is mind-boggling.
Fuckin clowns, as usual.
I'm not even saying trading him was the wrong move - he makes a ton of money and is over 30 now. But they didn't get nearly enough back for him.
And the new staff isn't as beholden to his aura (if that's the right word)....it will be far easier for them to say "well, we tried, he sucks" and go to that other kid that seems to fit their scheme better.
Which is exactly why you'll see Patricia employ the 3rd "safety" more like a fast outside linebacker when they play in November...unless something significantly changes between now and then.
They aren't beating Oklahoma without being able to pass the ball either....or Oregon. Or Iowa. Or...
Yup
The interesting part is now that Tony Clark is no longer the head of the MLBPA, there might be some wiggle room somewhere. The new interim director has worked in the NBA, NHL and NFL....
If Tony Clark was still there, you absolutely know the players union wouldn't give a rat's ass about...
Yup.
And I think the player's resolve to not have it be a restrictive cap is just as strong as it was in 1994. I mean, they were willing to give up Ripken's streak for it....
