Woody is now 9th. I saw a similar campaign on the PSU board which brought Joe Paterno up to 3rd...before that he was 9th. I'm sure we can pull together for Woody. We owe it to him. Please make sure you chose 10 names otherwise the system wont accept it (with Woody being #1, of course). Here is...
I saw penetration past/through the RG position on a routine basis. Now, by now means are the other OL guys a tower of strength, but defficiencies at RG were glaring. Add to that FB/TB/TE's inability to block, and there you have the recipe of a struggling ("non-existent" would be right choice of...
I am not optimistic unless...
1. Our OL can create holes; 2. Our TE/FB can block; and 3. Our staring TB can run. And I haven't seen any of that yet. Our OL keeps getting pushed around with amazing consistency. Our playcalling is one-dimensional..i.e. handing the ball over and over to the same...
I'm not going to say "I told you so". I said on this board and (on many ocassions) on Bucknuts that Lydell is a sub-par back for which I got plenty of grief! That he is a senior at the TB position who can't break a freakin' tackle! But deep down, I hoped that he would prove me wrong by finally...
Looks like his very first gane as a starter (agaisnt Washington last year) was his best game ever. I wonder if he is suffering from Chris Rix syndrome!
JaxBuck,
I wholeheartedly agree with you on Ross. I tried to say as much, albeit phrased somewhat differently, under that other thread.
May I add a few words about the OL? I am seriously beginning to doubt whether we will ever have an OL good enough to create running room for less than a stud...
Why weren't Branden Joe or Tony Pittman handed the ball today? I thought Joe was almost guaranteed to play.
I won't knock on Lydell Ross anymore. He is what he is. And our OL cannot be expected to become what it is not overnight. I think we need to consistently play out of a 2 RB and 1TE set...
I would say it's downright awful coming against a non-BCS opponent at home. When did we reduce our expectations so much that less than 100 yards against Marshall in the Shoe became acceptable?
OL, Running Game, etc.
Outside of Zwik's repeat identical interceptions, the things that disappointed me the most was our lack of running ability. And this time I am not buying the canned excuses such as: 1. "you cannot run the ball when the opponent stack eight players in the box"; or, 2...
This looks like the commentary from someone who did not watch the game himself but had to jot down a few sentences after seeing the highlights on ESPN.
It is amazing that he mentions nothing about the strong performance of the defense, in general, despite the replacement of three starters up...
I too thought it was a mild improvement over last year, which, however, does not say much.
I thought pass protection was somewhat adequate for most of the part. This aspect of the game was better than last year.
I thought run blocking was piss poor. This aspect of the game was the same as...
