I care about it. Just in a different capacity. I rarely even watch highlight tapes of recruits now. Not until they sign, for the most part.

I’ve always hated this narrative because that’s not exactly what happened. Tuf wasn’t covering D. Smith. He was dropping into a zone. That same coverage has been ran by every DC that’s been here since. Alabama was just flat better.

As a fan of this stuff that has no real impact on me, I kind of take pride in losing all the recruiting battles that have shady folks in the background. It says something that can’t quite be articulated but the proof’s in the pudding.

It should make them the opposite of happy. They lost out on a recruit to a place with worse facilities. So what happens when those facilities are renovated?

I’m not sure of his chops, but in theory it’s a great hire. An NFL scout monitoring the transfer portal? Good deal.
