WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

Pennington is the new Dolphins QB.. at least that is the rumor.. I guess Teddy can forget about running the deep routes.. Chad cant throw the ball more than 30 yards..

He's certainly an upgrade over what they have in camp, but it kinda hurts Ted's biggest strength which is blazing speed and the fear to get behind DBs..

Im not sure they are gonna respect that speed anymore due to the spaghetti armed Qb

Dolphin's Ginn lives up to billing

JACKSONVILLE - Maybe speedy receiver Ted Ginn Jr., didn't live up to his draft status last year because he didn't have a quarterback named Chad throwing him the ball.

Ginn, who was drafted ninth overall by the previous regime last year, displayed the go-to-skills of a true number one receiver as he hauled in four catches for 58 yards in the first half.

The 5-foot-11, slightly built Ginn fearlessly darted across the middle where headhunting defensive backs prowl, and made lunging grabs of 22 and 17 yards to help make quarterback Chad Pennington's Dolphins' debut a rousing hit. In the second quarter, Ginn grabbed a pass in the flat from rookie Chad Henne and darted for 12 yards.

"How about them Chads?'' Ginn joked. "We had a game plan and we executed it. It was a great atmosphere. I'll just continue to play hard, play fast and just have fun.''

Ginn, who has been criticized for his inability to create separation, was toasting Jags cornerback Rashean Mathis on a regular basis. He nearly had a 43-yarder down the sideline on a perfect back-shoulder lob from Henne, but he juggled it and was ruled out of bounds. Coach Tony Sparano tossed his first challenge flag, but the call was upheld.

After the game, Ginn was adamant that he had possession of the ball before going out of bounds.

My man Teddy Ginn, gonna blow up this year! Finally, he's able to get some passes without diving or catching it in the backfield. That Jaguars secondary is one of the better groups in the AFC as well. Go Teddy.

Dolphins might actually win a few games this year. The defense looks great early on. We still havent seen some of our key contributors on the field yet as well.

Dolphins' Ginn growing into role as wide receiver
By BEN VOLIN

JACKSONVIILE ? Ted Ginn Jr. gained 39 yards on his first two catches Saturday night in the Dolphins' 19-14 exhibition win over Jacksonville - 1 yard more than he gained in last year's four exhibition games combined.

And it was more receiving yards than he had in 13 of 16 regular-season games in 2007, his rookie season.

After catching one pass for 10 yards in the exhibition opener against Tampa Bay, Ginn got "more at-bats" Saturday, as coach Tony Sparano vowed he would last week during training camp.

Ginn caught four passes for 58 yards in one half of play Saturday, and Sparano was pleased with the way Ginn played "faster."

"He knows he still has a long way to go," Sparano said. But "it's good for Ted. He went out there and competed at a high level."

Ginn caught a 22-yard pass over the middle from Chad Pennington in the first quarter, leading the Dolphins into Jaguars territory en route to a Ricky Williams touchdown - the team's first of the exhibition season.

On the next drive he caught another pass over the middle from Pennington, this time for 17 yards on third-and-10. He ended the half with a 12-yarder from Chad Henne for another first down, and a 7-yarder with 8 seconds left to set up Dan Carpenter for a 46-yard field goal at the half.

Ginn was low-key about his effort.

"I just go out every day and try to get better," he said. "I'll just continue to play hard, play fast and just have fun."

Ted Ginn Jr. aiming to be Miami Dolphins No. 1 receiver

DAVIE, Fla. ? Having a reliable quarterback is making all the difference for Ted Ginn Jr.

For the first time in his NFL career, the Miami Dolphins' speedy receiver is living up to his high draft billing - albeit in the pre-season. The arrival of quarterbacks Chad Pennington and rookie Chad Henne has given a boost to Ginn, who many had considered one of the biggest busts of the previous Dolphins regime.

"It's a new year," Ginn said. "We have new coaches and new guys all over. I've been working hard to get better. So in a lot of ways, I feel like a new player."

Call it the Chad Effect, but Ginn finally displayed the go-to-skills of a top receiver in last week's pre-season game at Jacksonville, with four catches for 58 yards in the first half of Pennington's debut.

The slender, 5-foot-11 Ginn fearlessly zigzagged across the middle - where hard-hitting defensive backs await and where he was reluctant to take a hit as a rookie. He made diving catches of 22 and 17 yards from Pennington, and he nearly had a 43-yarder down the sideline on an over-the-shoulder grab from Henne but was ruled out of bounds.

"Yeah, how about them Chads?" Ginn joked.

If nothing else, Ginn has his swagger back.

He wears his socks high and his jersey long, tiptoeing around the Dolphins' practice field like he owns it. His demeanour is calm, and he's been the top target for Pennington and Henne during training camp.

But can he be a No. 1 receiver?

"Every day I go out and I practice like I'm trying to be the No. 1 receiver," Ginn said. "I've just got to continue to keep doing it."
