I have a feeling our defense is going to get shredded the first half of the season and come on at the end. We'll need as much help as we can get in every single game.
High expectations for Ginn, Hagan

Ousted as UCLA's head coach after five seasons, new Dolphins receivers coach Karl Dorrell has set the bar high for Ted Ginn Jr. and Derek Hagan. And although May/June performance shouldn't be overstated, their offseason development has the team encouraged.
Ginn's ''release off the ball has gotten a lot better,'' cornerback Andre' Goodman said. ''He's a lot more assertive,'' Will Allen said.
Dorrell told Ginn he must ``run at the same speed all the time so they can't tell if you're trying to run by them or you're running something shorter. He's doing a real good job trying to look fast with everything he does.''
Dorrell, whose unit was good in his three years as Denver's receivers coach (2000-2002), says ''there is no question the skill is there'' for Ginn to be a legitimate No. 1 receiver. ``He's very smooth, quick, has good feet. He has all the tools to be a great player. He knows he needs to be a bigger factor in what we do.''
The Dolphins won't scale back his punt/kickoff-return duties, and Ginn (34 catches, 420 yards, two TD receptions as a rookie) said juggling those with No. 1 receiver duties isn't too much.
DAVIE, Fla. -- Ted Ginn Jr. is wiser and healthier as he prepares for his second season with the Miami Dolphins. One thing that hasn't changed, though, is his demeanor.
Ted Ginn, Jr. caught two touchdown passes in his rookie season with Miami.

Ginn remained calm after his selection by the Dolphins last year drew boos at the team's draft party. He stayed that way while going through an up-and-down rookie season.
And he's as low-key as ever now, even though he could be looking at taking over the top receiver role for the Dolphins this season.
"Every day I go out and I practice like I'm trying to be the No. 1 receiver," Ginn said after Miami wrapped up its mandatory minicamp Sunday. "I've just got to continue to keep doing it."

Umm, he also threw a TD pass.Multitasking is nothing new for Ginn, who scored touchdowns four different ways -- rushing, receiving, punt returning and kickoff returning -- in his three seasons at Ohio State.
Is Dolphins? Ginn ready for No. 1 WR role?
Tuesday, June 10, 2008 | Posted by Jeff Dickinson
As the Miami Dolphins wrapped up their voluntary preseason workouts Sunday, reports were coming out of camp that second-year receiver Ted Ginn is ready to become the team's No. 1 wideout in 2008.
Ginn was said to be more relaxed and more confident heading into his sophomore NFL season and wasn?t shying away from stepping up to be the go-to guy for whichever quarterback is under center. That?s both good and bad news for Dolphins fans.
What?s good about it? It is encouraging that Ginn, a receiver who hardly had a breakout season in 2007, seems ready to take on a leadership role among the other wideouts. Some second-year players who faced the kind of criticism that Ginn did when the Dolphins reached for him in the first round of the ?07 draft might shy away from the spotlight.
At the same time, Miami fans should also be a little wary that a guy like Ginn, who only had 34 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns last year, seems to be the best receiver the team has in ?08. After the Dolphins traded their only legitimate receiving threat in Chris Chambers to San Diego midway through last season, Marty Booker and Ginn wallowed in mediocrity.
Booker is now in Chicago, and Ginn is seemingly the No. 1 man. There is a question as to whether Ginn is No. 1 simply because of attrition. The Dolphins did sign former Jacksonville receiver Ernest Wilford as a free agent in the offseason. Wilford had similar numbers as Ginn for the Jaguars last season ? 45 catches for 518 yards and three touchdowns.

The Dolphins need this like the Colts need Manning and Gonzo.
