Ted Ginn plays well, but can't get win Former OSU star returns five kickoffs for 122 yards, has catch

CLEVELAND: It should have been a triumphant homecoming for Ted Ginn Jr., a former standout at Cleveland Glenville High School and star kick returner-wide receiver for Ohio State University. Instead, the Miami Dolphins' first-round draft pick watched helplessly as solid kickoff returns, including one for 96 yards and a touchdown, were called back because of penalties.
''I didn't know until after I scored (that there was a flag),'' Ginn said. ''It's one of those things that you have to put behind you and try to make the next one.''

Ginn's return packed with lots of promise

Monday, October 15, 2007 Dennis Manoloff

Plain Dealer Reporter
Rookie Ted Ginn Jr. of the Miami Dolphins thought he had cooked up a treat for family and friends Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Ginn, a former standout at Glenville High School and Ohio State, ran back the opening kickoff of the second half 96 yards. Once he turned to celebrate with teammates, though, he realized the first touchdown of his pro career would have to wait.
"I saw yellow," Ginn said.

Ginn generates highlight ... penalty wipes it out

By Omar Kelly |South Florida Sun-Sentinel October 15, 2007

Rookie Ted Ginn Jr. felt cheated.

He had just crossed the goal line, scoring on what he thought was a 96-yard kickoff return to open the third quarter. He thought his touchdown would swing the momentum in the Dolphins' favor. And most importantly, he did it in his hometown.

All the pent-up frustration released. All the second-guessing about the Dolphins selecting this former Ohio State standout with the No. 9 draft pick finally subsiding.

I can't believe he's not starting over Chambers. He might the worst wr in the NFL. He has such sorry hands and looks to slow to be a starter/player.
That team has already gave up the season the way they played yesterday.Coaching and mostly average players can't win anything.:!

This is good for everyone involved. The only Dolphins game that I've seen was against the Browns, and it looked like Chambers had given up on the team. He was getting open...wide open but Lemon couldn't hit him on the deep ball. If he was even marginally covered Lemon would get the ball close, but Chambers wouldn't fight for it. Not fighting for your QB/team after a few overthrows tells me that Chambers had to go, and go now. Letting Ginn and Hagan learn with the rest of a young offense (with Booker to help mentor) is the right thing to do, IMO.

Looks like he forgot something already...

Yahoo Sports Pre-Draft interview w/ Ted Ginn:

Q: What will you do when you score your first NFL touchdown?
A: I will hand the ball to the ref.
No, he threw it to the ref, he just didn't catch it .
