WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

If we had Teddy, we could thrown more of the quick screen and utilized his speed on crossing patterns, to get the ball out of Troy's hands quicker. That possibly could have held off ths UF pass-rushers a little more. Teddy was a HUGE loss, imho.

yes but could have still done this w/o teddy, i was wondering why we weren't, ray small? gonzo? hartline? robiskie? plenty of able recievers, tg2 was most missed in terms of matchups with their corners.. teddy and gonzo weren't there to compliment one another just like the running game wasn't there to open the pass

One thing the injury to Teddy proved -- all those who have claimed that Gonzo is "every bit as good as" or "better than" Ted Ginn Jr. have been proven very, very wrong.

None of our receivers were able to get any separation whatsoever from coverage; that clearly would not have been the case with Ginn. He showed on the opening kickoff that there was nobody on the Florida team who could remotely keep up with him. His loss was the single biggest reason for the humiliation the Buckeyes suffered IMO.

That's a bullshit statement to make.

a.) Apples to oranges; two different receivers with different qualities, who complimented one another well. Ginn gone only proved how valuable he is in Gonzo's success, not that he's better than Gonzo.
b.) Ginn stretches the field and with that gone, the field is "unstretched." That's it. It was easier for Florida to shorten their defense and key on a particular strategy inistead of having to cover potential.

Irresponsible on your part to say that. Must... not... ding... dingleberry. :smash:

Ray Small could have been used more in this game. He was our "Percy Harvin" during scout team practices and could have easily been used in every bit the same way UF used Percy.

I wondered that myself, I thought he was the 5th receiver before Ginn's injury behind Gonzo, Robbie, and Hartline.

I just can't help but wonder how many "gimmick" plays JT had drawn up for Ted during the game that flew out the window. The last 2 bowl games prior there were several plays drawn up exclusively to get Ted the ball and you know that the NC game would've been no exception. End around, lining up at QB, double reverse...we'll never know. But I found it odd that we never tried to run any other kind of trick play in the game even without Ted.

Man, I gotta stop analyzing this game. It's over right? Aghh!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw somewhere on here that the deadline to declare for the NFL is January 15th?

Just making sure because if I had to wait any longer than 5 days I'd probably go crazy wondering about next year and our talented juniors.
