WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

I was at the game and it was obvious to me that Tress wanted to get Ginn on the field to make the D respect him on the opposite side of Holmes, his future is bright.

He better get used to this scene....the kid has alot of talent.

Teddy is a shut down corner and is too valuable not to eventually use him over there. Defense, special teams and a mistake free offense will always rule the day with Coach Tressel at the helm. Ginn will be in the mix for a starting corner spot after Fox graduates and we should still see him at receiver.

Yes....Cinci was looking for him. He ran dummy routes to free Santonio a few times today. Once teams start thinking those are dummy routes and jumping SH...TGII becomes a weapon

21 not trying to flame but there is no such thing as dummy routes. Just because he might be the 3rd option on that play doesn't make it a dummy route. Your right Holmes will have the safety rolling over top to help which will make TgII and hall have single coverage. :oh: :io:

Even though he didn't do all that much with the ball, I was impressed with his play away from the ball...he seemed to run good routes, and when he had the ball, the speed was scary. This kid can play ball, he's ready now and I think we'll seem him all over the place this year.

I'm excited about our potential on offense

I was impressed with his hands. I knew he was fast and athletic, but that doesn't mean he can catch. The catch where he was pushed out before he landed was pretty impressive.

Speaking of good hands... nice to see Bam has some now!

Did anybody see the Purdue TD where Orton pumped-faked a bubble screen, the WR gave a little blocking fake, and then took off for an easy over-the-top TD/

I'd like to see that wrinkle with Santonio, Bam and TGII involved.

Ginn

I was at the game and honestly I don't know if Zwick is even use to Ginns Speed yet because he over threw him badly when Ginn had about 2 steps on his man going into the South Endzone. I was impressed like many of you guys as well on his grab when he got shoved out of bounds (nothing he could do there). He only had 2 passes thrown to him other wise and one was a horrible throw which he shouldv'e let go but still a awesome grab none the less, and the other if he couldv'e broke just one tackle he'd have himself a touchdown. Remember guys we read that Ginn was also practicing reverses as well (look for that). I still don't think they gave him a shot in the open field tho. Both Screen passes he caught were on the short side of the field. Maybe they should try doing it on the open side? I'm very excited bout this young man.

Just think'n: all of this does not go unnoticed in NE Ohio high schools who are familiar with Ginn and Smith...to watch them now on regional and national t.v., playing against the best CFB in the country. Sure can't hurt JT's recruiting efforts.

I think Ginn continues to play at WR because of the effect he will have on the opposing defense. The opposing team will have to do something to negate his speed (safety help, playing way off the ball). This will open up somone else or just give us more room to work. Whenever you have a game changing guy like him he will play wherever he can.

Why do so many assume Teddy is just there as a decoy? If he gets the ball in open space, he will dazzle you. That's why he's in the game.

If you were JT, could you resist the temptation of having 4 wides with Roy Hall, Bam Childress, Santonio Holmes and Teddy Ginn? Man, I couldn't. Then throw in Ryan Hamby at TE. That will drive defenses crazy and will even make the running backs more productive by keeping the 8-in-the-box stuff that killed us last year in check.

IMHO JT wants to see Ted Ginn Jr. catch passes, because when he only has one or two defenders to beat after the catch he can be devastating.

It would've been nice to see Teddy get a good ball thrown his way downfield. The two he got were both too close to the sideline to catch inbounds. I'm still not a big fan of throwing him the screen until we learn how to properly execute those blocks.

One thing is for sure, teams are already giving him extra attention when he's out there. If nothing else, it does act as a decoy. You can't double Teddy, Holmes, and Bam on the same play. Someone will be open.
