The play was not as predictable as you may think. He went in moiton to the one side and then came back around. Stan White missed the block and let his guy up the field causing for the defense to be able to pursue to him. He did only lose 2 yards when it should of been like 8.

ok guys, first off take a deep breathe. other than committing the heinous sin of trying to do to much to help his team win, there is NOTHING wrong with ginn. he's doing to much thinking and not enough reacting. this is actually pretty normal. many "freshman phenoms" come back and have a rough start to their sophomore years. they come in and they expect to do everything they did last year right off the bat only bigger and better.

1. no team (unless they are rushing like 2 guys and dropping everyone else into coverage) should ever be able to get away with doubling ANY of our receivers. ginn, holmes, gonzo, hall, etc.. every time one of our guys gets doubled thats a win, period. just like it is a win when a d lineman gets doubled. noone ever asked wtf happened to will smith when he was getting double or triple teamed and didn't come up with a play. why? because someone else followed in the wake he created and made the play. if ginn is being doubled it is on the coaching staff to take advantage of the mismatch the defense is giving us.

2. everyone was dropping balls in the texas game. texas was more prepared for that game mentally. ginn's drops, just like gonzo's hamby's et al, were mental. not a lack of skill, ability, or desire.

3. we can't turn our backs on an offensive scheme that has been wildly successful for what amounts to half a season because of a MINOR case of the dropsies. nor can you let a d scare you from being who and what you are. you pull your guys aside, you calm them down, and you put them right back into position to make plays.

4. texas is a good team! good defenses increase the likely hood of drops. we watch our d do it all the time. not sure why we are so surprised when texas' very stout d forces the same type of mental errors on our guys.

5. ginn WILL NOT score a super haley hackin ninja double backflip td every game. please accept this as a reality. he needs at least 4 touches a quarter. give them to him even if there is little to no gain in yardage. If the d overcompensates to take him out of the equation… EXCELLENT! in that case refer to point #1! this at the very least keeps their d honest. and if they don’t overcompensate for ginn… that’s when he scores the super ninja touchdowns.

offensively we as a team were not on our game sat night. that should take nothing away from texas. a significant portion of why were weren't on our game is because they very effectively removed us from it.

relax people, ginn will settle down. tressel had a bad night. both are fine and will be back to their usual selves soon.

Ginn is only part of the reason we lost Saturday...


Let me break it down for you...

Smith took that safety to completley erase any chance of victory we had. But he wouldnt have even been put in that situation had Zwick not fumbled. But Zwick wouldnt have had to run with the ball had Ginn ran his route and tried to get open, But the reason Ginn wouldnt run his route for Justin is because Justin is a racist. Now, Justin is only a racists because the whole town of Columbus supports Troy Smith and not him, well, the whole town supports Troy because they feel bad, because Kanye West told everyone that George Bush doesnt care about black people. Kanye would have never said that, had Bush been at the levee in New Orleans, holding it together with his own two arms when hurricane Katrina rolled in. Maybe bush could have done that if he wasnt old with decaying muscles. The reason his muscles are decaying is because of the cocaine he did in college, and he never would have had that cocaine if not for the Coke farms in Columbia..


so there you have it folks,

we lost on saturday because of Columbia.

Just a small correction, IIRC Tressel said on 1460 that they called one deep throw to Ginn but Zwick hit Holmes on a dig route for a good gain.

I don't disagree that the playcalling could have been better, but keep in mind that Smith audibled to a LOT of QB draws. Now early on I think this was ok, but that had to have an impact on the playcalling. Also, the first two drives stalled due to dropsies (along with others where penalties killed the drives)

Hamby's drop, Gonzo/Ginn jitters early on, penalties, missed blocks, and audibles at the line made a big difference... if some of those worked out differently Tressel's gameplan would have worked. This defense is as good as any that we faced last year. We didn't face anyone of Wisconsin/Iowa's caliber once smith took over. Purdue was close, and look how that turned out.

Ehh, I see what you're saying, and he shoulda made the block, but keep in mind that I believe Tressel called a timeout before the play (correct me if i'm wrong). I actually thought putting him in motion made it a little more obvious what was going on, but who knows.

Another thing I noticed is that they didn't fake the reverse on any plays in the game. That really surprised me.

How many people(everywhere, not just rabid buckeye fans) even knew who Tedd Ginn Jr. was two games into last season? The whole country knows about him now. The fact that not scoring a touchdown every time the ball gets within 10 yards of him is a let down to some people tells you just how good Ginn is. Give it some time.

I believe the to was after the reverse, b/c I think it was b4 the 3rd down play. Could be wrong.

I agree, Ginn just has way too much talent to stay quiet for a long amount of time, hes gonna break out and its going to be very entertaining to watch.

I say letem try and take TGII out of the game. Santonio with single coverage is a receipe for disaster.

Eventually, they'll be enough film that teams say, "Hey, lets take Santonio out of the game rather than Ginn... He's all hype, apparently, cause he isn't getting the job done."

Then......

KA-FUCKING-BOOM

And, Santonio is a polished enough route runner, that he'll still get his.

Oh, yeah.. all this ignores Gonzo, Lyons, Hall, Dukes....

There just isn't a way to get ready for all this, which is what makes Texas' win all the more impressive to me now - defensively speaking. OSU had such good field position all game... man... Texas' D was better than I anticipated. I knew they were good... but... I don't think we'll see OSU's O as hog tied as that the rest of the year.
