WR Santonio Holmes (Super Bowl XLIII MVP)

they were reporting on the radio this morning that he and his lady got into a fight because he is going to be staying in pitts. without her (i guess she would be staying in flor.)

I read this as meaning he will make Pitts his permanent home instead of just living there during the season. I could understand the little woman getting upset if their plan has been him living in FL and having a seasonal residence in whatever town he ended up in. That is just an assumption on my part.

And you know for sure that she didn't strike or throw something at him first because...

That still doesnt justify hitting a woman. I hope since i like holmes that this is a false and he didnt put his hand on her or strike her because anyone that does that loses major points in my book. Every father should teach their son's never to do that no matter how mad you get at a woman or how much she hits you. Any male can hold a woman so that she would not be able to do any harm to you. The only way it is justified is if she has a life threatning weapon i.e knife, gun, bat, in that case i think it is justified for your own safety.

Here is the only thing that goes through my head on reading this type of stuff.

Before NFL Draft Holmes was always looked on as model citizen - great student, friendly and full of smiles. Wishing to live up to his parental responsibilities, and hoping that entree to the Pro ranks afforded him the opportunity to do that in style.

I frankly find it very difficult to believe that his character has done a complete 180-degree from that Happy-go-lucky Buckeye to turn into a dark and selfish monster.

Till we hear the words guilty from a jury, or even see this thing move forward to domestic court I am 100% withholding judgement. 100%.

One reason for this - some words in the printed report are at odds with Holmes Bio. This has the woman stating the father of her child - singular - assaulted her. Holmes Bio shows he is the father of two children, Santonio III and Nicori. EDIT - Wiki shows him as father to three children - Santonio III, Nicori and Saniya.
The main reason for withholding judgement though - we simply do not know the facts.

He can be accused of domestic abuse if she spent 15 minutes clawing and hitting him and all he did was push her away and she broke a nail.

Personally, if she deserved it, I hope she got what was coming to her. If she didn't, Santonio is seriously in the wrong and should be punished accordingly.

Buckeye247 is right. Short of her possessing a deadly weapon and indicating intent to use it, there is no excuse for hitting a woman, or utilizing force which physically harms her. Sans a gun, or something similar, it is quite easy to avoid being even mildly hurt without taking any actions which could be reasonably viewed as aggressive. Hopefully Santonio is wrongly accused.

You obviously haven't seen a lot of domestic disputes. Your statement, "Any male can hold a woman so that she would not be able to do any harm to you", is blatently narrow-minded and naive. I've seen several cases where the woman got the better of the man for that exact reason, i.e., the guy was afraid to doing anything back because of fear of reprisal (and the woman knew it). I've seen a fair amount of couples where the wife was significantly bigger than the husband, and other couples where the wife was in much better physical condition than the husband. Domestic violence is never a good thing, but to say one gender can't do anything to the other, regardless of what the other is doing, is wrong.
