WR Roy Hall (Official Thread)

jwinslow said:
Hall had too high of expectations due to his size, and unfair early comparisons to David Boston. He was able to get on the field sooner due to his physique, but he may be a late bloomer like others before him.

I think its a combination of that, and finding a suitable role for him to play... unfortunatly for Roy... up to this point... I think he's been kind of a tweener... (I mean... he's a BIG kid)... so... hopefully this TE/Slot move him around thing will eork out for him... I would think he'd be utilized kind of like Derek Smith was at Kentucky... if anyone remembers that guy back in the Hal Mumme days.

Just one more reason to leave TGII at WR and leave him there. We could be looking at multiple NC's within the next 5 years, counting this one.

I second that comment. I have also stated in the past that I believe we have a plethora of talent at the DB spot, Teddy has not played any CB in college, but he has proven himself as a budding superstar at WR. If it isn't broke.....don't fix it.

I just don't get why people still are calling for TG to corner! We are not hurting for cornerback talent! Leave him at WR and get him 10-15 touches a game!

Umm nobody on this thread is...

But... for those that do thing TG should play DB... I imagine they are jsut looking to get teh best talent on the field.... at least in their own deluded minds... kind of like the people who would put LB's at DE.

I'm glad he has the right attitude about it, I just wonder how effective he'll be. Does anyone know how his blocking skills are?
Blocked like an animal against Indiana last year. I had seats down near the field and he gave great effort blocking in that game. Totally destroyed some DB's away from the action. Also helped spring TGII on his TD in that game.

:topic:Its unlikely that TG will get 10-15 catches a game this year. We are too deep fr that (also, isnt OSUs catch record/game 15, set in the mid 90s?)...But I agree, with everyone around the nation wanting to see Ginn at CB, they need to look closer at our roster and the talent we are supplied with. Ginn will be just fine with 10 catches, some reverses/pitch, and KR/PR in the games this year.

I had never heard anyone compare Roy Hall to Boston, but I certainly thought of it when I saw Halls pic standing next to Gonzo, Ginn & Holmes. He towers them all! But, we can only compare Hall to Boston in college, because Boston in the pros looks like K1's Bob Sapp :tongue2:.

Youboty will stay for his senior year...serious vCash on that.
yep, he'd have to have one heck of a year to go after this season.

I'll have a lot more than 35 once I win that bet on Ginn not playing QB...
while possible, its gonna take till the end of the season to collect so that doesn't do you any good :p

hall has good hands and is definitely a team player on the field. his block for ginn on the td against indiana comes to mind. he just doesn't have the speed to play wr for us at present. not with guys like ginn, holmes, and gonzo. but he is going to be pretty evil at te. he could very easily be a kellen winslow type of player minuse the overwhelming arrogance. i think this might be a big season for him if he gets a shot.

The quote that you had in your post said touches, not catches. I think that 10-15 touches for TG is a reasonable number to hope for, between the return game, running plays and receptions.

That is what I am hoping for too, and if he isnt getting the touches in the passing game Holmes's numbers better be flying off the chart b/c they are doubling Ginn.

Youboty

Duane Long has stated numerous times that he believes Youboty will go pro early based upon his conversations when he first came aboard. When Youboty gave the reason for coming to tOSU the first thing out of his mouth was that tOSU puts corners in the NFL. Just food for thought.
