He never played more than a few plays so we never got to see if he was...

Which David Boston? Boston's weight on draft day was 208 lbs. His 40 was a non-blazing 4.47. It wasn't until Boston got into that car accident, jacked himself up and started taking 'roids, that he became the speed burning beast that he was his last year in Arizona, and the beginning of his year in San Diego. If Roy wants to be a better receiver, he might want to consider shedding 10-15 pounds, and working on his speed. He's already shown me that he can catch. Add 10-15 to move to TE, or lose 10-15 to be a better WR. I don't care which. I just think that it's important that he's effective when he's on the field, and The Buckeyes continue to add offensive threats to their arsenal.martinss01 said:he probably wants to be the next david boston, but i don't think he has the speed for that.
the college version. i completely agree he needs to pick a direction and run with it. with the depth we have at wr, te might be the better choice. even though we have 2 guys with game time there to... tough call really. but i think te grants the least resistance to consistant game time and has more beatable players for the starting position.IronBuckI said:Which David Boston? I may be mistaken here, but when a TE blocks, aren't they usually helping the tackle to double-team a DE? And when their responsibility is to pick up a blitzing linebacker, all they really need to do is hold the LB off long enough for the QB to see the empty spot on the field. (I know - easier said that done.)scarletandgrey said:My only concerne is if he if he is large enough to play TE. We all know that he has good hands but can he block enough to protect the QB especially against bigger guys.
Depends on the play, blocking scheme, and defensive set...the only way the TE will double-team a DE is if the DE is in a loose 6 or a 7 technique. Your double-team would more than likely occur on the off-tackle power where the tackle will post the DT, the TE washes down for the combo and peels off to the LB while the FB kicks out the DE. The TE has numerous blocking options and responsiblities on the 1st and 2nd level.Zurp said:I may be mistaken here, but when a TE blocks, aren't they usually helping the tackle to double-team a DE? Can someone expand on what role that was for us that didn't follow those kind of details back then? What was Irizarry's role going to be? More of a spread formation TE?tsteele316 said:hamby will be the strong-sdie TE this year, with nichol behind him. if anything, hall would be playing the role that the staff hoped irizarry would provide.
