WR Roy Hall (Official Thread)

I've said it before, Roy Hall will be a better pro wideout than Anthony Gonzalez

Roy definitely seems to have all the measurables ala Terrel Owens to be able to out muscle the quicker-smaller defenders and out run the bigger-stronger defenders. But with Gonzo's seemingly unmatched work ethic and track record at Ohio State, I'm not sure I'll bet against him.

Not that I don't hope Roy realizes that potential and eclipses all of my expectations, but I'd still guess Gonzo has the better Pro Career all said and done.

I predict Gonzo will have the better career... because of the way Manning will use him...

not saying Hall won't be a very good one... but he won't be notorious enuf to make the public splash... when you see ESPN highlights, it'll be the key possession catch by Gonzo or the homerun to Harrison/Wayne... at least for the next few years

Especially if Gonzo manages to hang around with Peyton and the Colts for the first part of his career, that is such a perfect system for him I really think he will shine in it.

Might not be apples to apples if they really work Hall into an H-Back (or hybrid) role. They could have equally successful careers with completely different stat lines.

Is Roy even a good blocker? It's as though people forget that in order to be an NFL tight end/H-Back, you have to be a great blocker. I can't recall Roy making any slobber knockers... In fact the only time I can remember his blocking (I have a bad memory, forgive me) was the championship game where he was getting away with murderous holding and blocking in the back.

I think he'll make a great WR. A terrible TE.

Not sure, to be honest. He obviously didn't block on the line in college, I'm sure he blocked downfield, but I dont remeber anything particular.

I dont think that an H-Back/Hybrid style receiver will ever pass protect for the QB. Roy could line up at the TE slot, and then create mismatches in the LBs or block in the defensive backfield... someone correct me if I'm misunderstanding the role....

ANOTHER POLLARD?: Receiver Roy Hall, a fifth-round pick from Ohio State, is one of the Colts' most intriguing rookies.

At 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, he's the biggest receiver on the team and a player that some scouts thought would play tight end in the NFL. Dungy has said he wants to try Hall at receiver first although he compared him to a popular former Colts tight end Wednesday.

"Well, he might be a Marcus Pollard type of guy, I don't know yet," Dungy said.

The Colts have the luxury of a great offensive mind who can convince anyone that what he's thinking is a good idea......if you're Roy Hall are you going to tell anyone on the Colts staff "you wont do this or you won't do that".....Personally, when I saw that 40 time I was in disbelief, espceially after the run down in the Purdie game from 2005-2006. Roy definately has the ability to be in a multiple wide-out package but I just don't see him blazing dudes off the line w/ that 40 speed he displayed on OSU's track.....if Roy consistently had that type of speed, I think we can definately assume Jim Tressel would have had him in the line-up more often

I think the Colts and Bill Polian know a quality program and person when they see one and they look at Roy as a solid back-up who will know his role.....If Roy wants to try the Tight-end H-Back position and it works well, they have Roy for 4 years and in his next contract Roy will make big-time bank

" The next David Boston".......................

Hopefully minus the bad behavior, roids and faulty knees...... He was an outstanding player at tOSU and Arizona. He had his best season in 2001 in which he had 98 receptions for 1598 yards and 8 touchdowns for the Cardinals.
