WR Roy Hall (Official Thread)

imo the best hands on the team last year. second only to holmes the year prior. easily the most underutilized player on offense (some of that was due to injury). it really goes to show the amount of talent a team has when a guy like roy can be underutiliezed heh. the right team picks him up, he could be very successful at the next level.

I was shocked to see that 40 time...I think most remeber the catch he made against Purdue where it looked like he was running in quicksand.....He always gave me a feeling a comfort on the field though...he showed great hands against Northwestern and Texas his junior year and I felt he always came up big when the ball was thrown to him this year. If he ever decided TE was something he wanted to try it would really benefit his NFL career I believe....It's great OSU can add another draft pick to its impressive resume

I was too, but keep in mind that was before 2 years of training with Butch Reynolds...

Ya, I guess huge props to Butch and Roy for putting the time in....With that kind of 40 and the great hands he shown over his time at OSU I guess I'm a little surprised at his lack of PT then.......what held him back? I'd like to state I was always a big fan of Roy and really loved when he got PT b/c he always stuck out to me, especially in 4-5 Wideout sets where I knew he'd get 1 on 1 coverage

he had some injuries. most noteably his senior year when he had the best shot at playing time. but the biggest problem he had was the surrounding talent. for most of his career he was fighting holmes, ginn, and gonzo for playing time. then came small, hartline, and robo.

The only negative I have seen on Roy is that he tends to catch the ball in his chest instead of with his hands.

I can see what you mean. In that video of him at Pro day, he seemed to be making a lot of body catches, but in the end did have a pretty nice over the shoulder catch on a deep route.

I think that he has the hands to be able to catch them every time properly, he just needs some work and practice with it.
