WR Emeka Egbuka (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Emeka Egbuka tells the world why Ohio State is the best place for a WR

The former Ohio State football player talked about how much the university prepared him for the NFL.

The Ohio State football program is known as Wide Receiver U for a reason. They have put in four straight first-round picks at the position, becoming the first ever school to do so. Quite frankly, they are the premier school when it comes to developing receivers.

Emeka Egbuka is showing that right now. As a rookie in the NFL, he has completely changed the Buccaneers' offense, becoming a stud right out of the gate. He is already taking over the number one receiver position from Mike Evans, clearly becoming Baker Mayfield's favorite target.

Egbuka is now the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. He was recently on The Pat McAfee Show, and he was asked if playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes prepared him for the NFL. He gave a very detailed answer that will certainly be used for recruiting purposes.

Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka shares why the Buckeyes are the best place for wide receivers

"So the first part of your question, yeah, I do think Ohio State has made me ready for my NFL career in a lot of ways. I think something that the wide receiver room at Ohio State prides ourself on is having three wide receiver ones at any given time. We have all of the ability to be able to dominate at any given game."

Egbuka didn't stop there with his praise, saying the competition is part of the reason he chose the Buckeyes.

"Just being in that room for so many years and competing with those guys day by day just made me a better football player. That's one of the reasons I chose Ohio State is because I was a five-star, top-ten recruit. Number-one receiver in my class, all that type of stuff. Could've gone anywhere. Bama, Clemson was hot at the time when I was coming out. But I wanted to go to Ohio State because I knew that receiver room was special, and I needed to be, I wanted to grow my ability, not just see the field right away."

  • Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr., both members of Ohio State’s 2021 recruiting class who became star receivers for the Buckeyes and are now the top wide receivers for their respective NFL teams, exchanged jerseys after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 20-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Egubka had four catches for 42 yards for the Buccaneers while Harrison had six catches for 69 yards for the Cardinals.

Cool for EE…

But Hartline still isn’t back in Columbus…? I know I’m just being Lunatic Fringe but I need our guy locked in an office crunching film and designing plays that don’t involve 6 TEs.

I think he might be the one in love with TEs. Some of the stuff they did this year is the same as the start of ‘23 when he was first an OC. Traynum was used more at FB and went on a wheel route game one.

I thought they would start manipulating personnel to get mismatches on PA, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case. Might be better if Hartline takes a week in Florida and then comes back to see what Day and co have been doing.
