It's really a time-value of money problem. Invest even semi-competently and he is set for life already. The extra year or two of income must be very tempting, but the degradation of life due to the trauma is not worth it in the long haul.

I mean, really, if you are a Buckeye star of such magnitude, there is always fame and fortune where the alumni network has it's largest nodes.

Chris Olave’s career earnings

According to Spotrac, Olave’s career earnings as of October 2024 sum up to $15,938,891.

How much of Chris Olave’s contract is guaranteed?

According to Spotrac, Olave is assured of receiving $19,271,874 from his contract, regardless of performance or injury. This amount includes his signing bonus and other guaranteed salary components.

Yeah, if he invested wisely, he should be set for life. And the figures (above) doesn't count any endorsement deals.

"We're trying to figure out what's the best now for the long term," Rizzi said. "There's a process in which he's going through. He met with our people and then there's people outside the building. ... Chris is going to be out right now for the short term, and then we'll make a decision for the long term. But he is meeting with multiple people and everyone here, our medical staff has been in touch with all of them."

Woods was fined $16,683 for his hit on Olave, which also resulted in a penalty. It was Woods' ninth unnecessary roughness penalty since entering the league in 2017, the most in the NFL in that span.

Saints interim coach Darren Rizzi said Chris Olave (concussion/IR) is “in a good place.”
Rizzi added that Olave has seen several specialists and has another appointment coming up soon. The earliest Olave could come off IR is in Week 15. He was seen observing practice today — the Saints are taking Thursday off — but until he practices or we hear something more firmly optimistic about this season, we wouldn’t hold out hope of Olave playing again in 2024.
