Most impressive thing about that play was the speed of the TE running downfield. I’m guessing he wasn’t supposed to run that fast and bring another defender into the play.

Surprising, but maybe not, as eyes are always focused on Jeremiah. Not to denigrate him, but DB1 and 3 are on Jeremiah, and he gets DB2. No biggie, but do so enjoy the bon mots from the pro scouts who are noticing - and they notice everything, who recognize him as a potential first rounder. I'll let the more learned folk compare him to whomever, just keep catching those balls/TDs Carnell. Great store here.

The smart play would be CB1 on Tate
since you double Smith, use CB2 & CB3
My prediction is.. time to unwrap Inniss who is against a safety
which will further open up Tate and Smith.. and the TEs

I think he is fine. They said he was just "tight" warming up. Just an abundance of caution against a crappy team.

Austin and Birm mentioned earlier in the week that Tate had a minor (if I recall) arm injury he suffered at the end of the last game. They openly wondered whether the coaches would rest him this week but assumed he would be a full go. Pretty clear this week was treated as a rest and try new things week….

Carnell resting this week was actually pretty selfless. Gave himself a week to get healthy with zero impact to his draft stock, everyone knows he’s dominate. And it gave opportunity for Smith to shine and improve his heisman campaign. Also gave younger guys some great reps.

Pure speculation but I think he either aggravated something during gameweek or has been nursing a minor injury for several weeks….and they told him to take this week off.
I said it last year, but OSU now runs this roster like an NFL squad. They’re overly precautious to protect players, especially with the bigger cushion the playoff gives.

I read somewhere that he was feeling unusually tight in warm ups. Sometimes that just happens and certainly not worth pulling or ripping a hamstring for Purdue.
I pulled one in a bs informal summer training session one time when I knew I shouldn’t be running. Took months to feel right for nothing.
