I lean on the side of too little body fat from excessive weight training & cardio. It's counter-productive to be carrying less than ~7-8% body fat. When you get below that threshold your adipose tissue no longer has anywhere to store H2O. A lot of skill guys in football are way below this 7-8% range (which may be why you see the lean guys drop like flies on a humid day while the big uglies in the trenches play 80+ snaps). You mention soccer, but the same holds for basketball and hockey. Athletes in other sports train towards something approaching functional fitness, where football players that target only increased mass IMHO will sacrifice endurance.
That's a pretty solid sounding reason to me. It has always baffled me with nobody really giving reason as to why. Guess Braxton is too damn muscular
