a few years ago a cousin of mine that loved to bust my balls gave me a penn state hat that he had just to bust my chops a little bit. I always joked about shitting in it and giving it back to him! I put that hat in the top of my office closet at home and never really thought about it too much.
As many of you know, last friday was my birthday, and saturday i was at my parents, on the way to dinner on saturday night, we got a phone call that my cousin was in a car wreck, and had to be life flighted to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. When we got to the hospital, he had passed from internal bleeding, during surgery his heart gave out and he couldn't be saved.
I have spent the past 5 days holding his mother, father and his best friends, laughing, crying, and hugging. He was a 17 year old senior, who was headed to the Pittsburgh Art Institute next fall to major in graphics, he was special. He was a groomsman at my wedding, and more than a cousin to me. He and I looked, acted, and felt like brothers. He was a loving son, great big brother for his little sister, and a special friend. If you didn't love Wesley Allen Blake, it was simply because you had not met him yet. His laughter, smile, and love of life were infectious.
So, if you see me walking around with my penn state hat and a buckeyes shirt, just smile.
I dont mean to bring anyone down, and I'm not looking for a shoulder to cry on, I just want each of you to hug that person in your life who makes you smile, and dont let life get in the way of telling them how much you love them, you never know when it will be the last time you get to see them.
I love you Wesley Allen Blake, and I know that I will see you again someday.
RIP Wesley
