The Ohio State University Women’s Volleyball team dropped an important match against rival TTUN 3-0 who are now 17-10 & 7-9 in Big 10 action.

The 14th ranked Buckeyes fall to 21-7 overall & 10-6 in conference play. Four matches remain in the regular season.

Buckeye Valeria León would out-do all with 16 digs in the match moving her career total up to 1,159 (#11 in OSU School history). She is 14 digs shy of jumping into the all-time top-10 (currently Julie Chellevold is at #10 with 1,173 digs which occurred during the years of 1988-91).

Middle blockers Tyler Richardson and Taylor Sandbothe were right in the middle of the defensive efforts as well. They would contribute with three block assists each.

Buckeyes Elizabeth Campbell would go up against TTUN’s Abby Cole – both would earn well-fought, well-determined seven kills. Set number two was an insane adventure that witnessed 22 tied scores and an unimaginable 10 lead changes. Campbell and Richardson’s rejections fended off a TTUN surge – calming the situation for the Buckeyes. But consecutive TTUN kills would break that calm and finalize the set in their favor.

The Buckeyes granted opportunities to 13 players who all saw action in the third set as they applied pressure. The goal was fresh legs to attempt to tire TTUN down. The plan, unfortunately, never panned in the Buckeyes favor. TTUN accumulated 16 kills in a .353 pace that simply dominated the Buckeyes. They would win the set 25-16 solidifying the victory 3-0.

What exactly does this do for the Buckeyes? It never helps to lose. But the situation is not critical at this crossroad. Their placement in tournament play is lessening, but first things first. Upcoming matches against Iowa on Wed (Nov. 18th) and Sunday (Nov. 22nd) against Wisconsin need to be played. The big one coming up is Nov 25th against #4 Minnesota in Minnesota.

I am looking ahead aren’t I?

Victories are needed. One game at a time! Both the Iowa and Wisconsin matches are away games and will be televised on BTU Plus. Pull up a seat and cheer our Women Buckeyes on.

See you there. Go Buckeyes.
