There is a feeling of dissatisfaction that seems to have surrounded and somewhat engulfed Buckeye Nation and the Ohio State football program to this point in the season. Critics say that the Buckeyes have under achieved and the still undefeated Buckeyes believe that a win is a win is a win. Even so, with all of the slow starts we’ve witnessed this year, it seems to be inevitable that Ohio State, as a team, will grow and improve and grow and improve all season until they turn the corner and become the virtually unbeatable juggernaut that we know and love. When can we expect the OSU to turn that corner?

Ohio State will become THE Ohio State, this Saturday night in Columbus. Think back to last season, it was the Penn State game that OSU turned the corner. JT Barrett led the Bucks who were ranked 13th in the nation at the time, to a 31 to 24 victory over the Nittany Lions in double overtime; with the help of the famous walk off sack by Joey Bosa of course. OSU had been playing sloppy all season before that game as well. However, after Penn State, they were firing on all cylinders as they went on to beat Michigan State, Minnesota(ranked 25th at the time), Wisconsin, the great Alabama and Oregon, all to win the Natty.

But what makes Ohio State so much better than Penn State? The secondary, which I like to call the “No Fly Zone” is ranked in the top 10 in the country and haven’t allowed a receiver to catch a cold this season. When his wide outs can’t get open, Christian Hackenberg will be forced to hold on to the ball longer, but against this defensive line, that could be detrimental to his health. Penn State will have to rely heavily on its run game on Saturday night; a run game that has to run past Raekwon McMillan who is one of the top five tacklers in the country, Josh Perry and Darron Lee.

This is make or break time for the Buckeyes. It’s time to start making strides towards reaching their full potential. If history is any indicator of what we can expect from Ohio State, They will make that first stride this Saturday night in the shoe.
