The Ohio State University Women’s Volleyball team is 18-2. They are also ranked @ #6 Nationally.
Audra Appold, a freshman, gathered national attention when ESPN named her Women’s player of the week on Oct., 14th. This was based on her superiority in play versus Northwestern & Illinois. Both victories.
It is second time that a Lady Buckeye was named for such a honor following last years performance by Elizabeth Campbell in Oct., of 2014.
The NCAA released their rating index. They had our lady Buckeyes at #4. This is a power index. The importance of this rating will weigh in on placement of the upcoming NCAA tournament: First/Second round hosts.
Statistically we have:
On the Attack: Valeria Leon is at 400% and Taylor Sandbothe is at 389%.
Set: Taylor Hughes is 8.97
Serve: Valeria Leon is 0.21
Blocking: Taylor Sandbothe has 88. Elizabeth Campbell has 44.
The Big Ten in Women’s Volleyball is no joke. @ # 3 there’s Penn State. #5 is Nebraska. #6 is The Ohio State University. #9 Minnesota. #16 Wisconsin. #18 Illinois. #19 Purdue. And # 23 is TTUN. This is impressive. That means 8 teams of this league is ranked nationally out of 14.
Let us be both supportive and smart. We are Buckeye Nation. All that is Buckeye is great. Plain and simple. The Lady’s of the Volleyball team is standing up and delivering that wondrous Scarlet & Gray tradition. That is winning with pride and unprecedented sportsmanship.
These Lady’s are heading for a Big 10 Title. They too are in the national Championship conversation. So I am curious….
