Too many times the waitress assumes that you will drink with a straw. I prefer without.

as far as the server giving you a straw, it's just a matter of maximizing time. rather than giving a customer a drink without a straw and then having to make a trip for a straw when the customer asks for one, it is far easier to assume that all customers need them.

you bring up an interesting observation. plastic is a worse conductor of heat than glass is. all things being equal, the drink held in the plastic cup should remain cool longer than the drink in the glass cup. however, the drink held in the glass cup may feel cooler because much of your mouth is placed on the glass cup and, therefore, feels the coolness of the cup. whereas when drinking from a plastic cup, your mouth is placed on a less cool object and, therefore, the warmth of the plastic cup is noticed.djtidebuck;631957; said:Concerning the temperature of the drink, have you ever noticed that drinks seem colder in glass compared to plastic?
