Which 2008 FB Recruits get left out?

It seems like '08 could be our year to pick moreso than be selected. It seems like we're in on a LOT of great prospects early and the interest is mutual. Every time I turn around, there's another 4 or 5 star talent who is listing us in their top 3/5. This poses the question, who gets left out?

This year could be one of the better years for talent in the state and it looks like there are going to be more than a few kids who really want to play for the Bucks that might not be able to. The fact that kids like Stoneburner/B.Moore/L.Williams haven't been offered yet brought this to my attention a bit. What do you guys think?

Don't want to make this post a negative thing, rather, just an early speculation thing.

Who do you all think gets left out?

I really think it is too early to ask this question...

First we have to see the guys get the offers, and then we have to wait till after camp to see if these guys get offers or not, and even into the senior season...

It is also going to depend on who opts to be buckeyes and who doesnt...

I think about the only way to look at this is by going by position...

QB - we could miss out on some guys if we get Pryor, but if he goes elsewhere there will be other guys that step up and become buckeyes...

WR - If we are able to get some big time OOS guys like Tate, Flyod, Preaster etc then we might miss out on guys like Fairchild, Posey, Scott, etc.

It will all depend on who comes and in some cases it come down to verbaling faster than someone else, and whether or not the kid enjoys competition or not...

If Bauserman joins the team, I don't think we really need to take a QB if we miss out on Pryor. Obviously if Britt or someone impresses at camp, you offer, but I don't think it's a need with 4 capable qb's on the roster...

If Bauserman joins, I don't think we'll take a QB unless he's a 5 star...and then it's STILL a big maybe in my opinion.

I think there are going to be some serious WR/TEs left out. Just seems to be a lot of top-end kids who we're in on and then some more who want to jump on board. It is VERY early I know, but I hate when football season is over...trying to fill some time. :)

Agreed...way too early to even begin to speculate at who does not get an offer. Bump this topic after camp and it might be time to start thinking about it...

Due to the small class size and the strong interest of several OOS players (Long, Shugarts, Pryor, Hale, Sweat, Wilson, Watson, Jenkins, Tate, Green, Floyd, etc.), there will be at least a dozen very good Ohio recruits who will not get offers from Ohio State; and the ones who do get offers had better act on them quickly, as I imagine that the staff will not be so willing to play games with recruits this year.

If Pryor says hello Columbus goodbye PA does that change your mind?

Not quite camp, but probably a good time to bump this....

It looks like the following top prospects from Ohio will be on that "no offer" list:
Johnny Adams
Isaiah Pead
Justin Staples
Fred Craig
Douglas Rippy
Elliott Mealer (Michigan commit)
Brandon Moore
Brandon Beachum
Taylor Hill
Trey Fairchild
Marc Stevens
Jake Current
Harold Coates
Andrew Phelan
Zebrie Sanders
Dawawn Whitner
and possibly Shawntel Rowell

Of course, there will be many others, but all of the players on the above list have multiple D-I offers, and most of the kids have offers from Big Ten schools. In a "normal" year, several players form that list would have received Ohio State offers.

That would make a great recruiting class if a team was able to come in and pull about half the guys from that list...Say for a school like Purdue, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, or MSU...
Take Ohio State's eight current commitments and eight kids at random from the "no offer" list, and you'd have a top ten class.

My gut feeling is that the guys on LJB's list with the best chance at an offer as things stand today would be Rowell, Beachum and Craig...

BJ Machen is still my darkhorse for an in-state offer...

Of note in my mind would be B. Moore, Craig, Beachum, Staples, Rowell, Adams, Fairchild, and Mealer in Ohio. Hill and Rippy are also up there. OOS I think a guy like Jon Major has to really stick out, along with possibly Greg Shaw...both guys have top notch offers and are highly rated, though I don't think it's too late to offer either and Shaw could get an offer at camp.
