  • I saved all of my loose change for a few years (end of high school and beginning of college), and came away with over $800, paid for most of my 1st trip to vegas, great time!

My wife and i have a collection going right now, not sure how much is in there, my best guess would be near $500. We haven't decided what we're going to use it for, might just keep saving for a few more years to see how high we can get it.

My dad is obsessed with all of these State quarters. Every time a new one comes out he sends my kids a few loose ones to put in the quarter books he got for them, and then he sends a roll for every state for each of my kids and my wife and I. I really have no interest in it at all, so my wife and the kids put the quarters in the books and we keep the rolls in a wooden box. When I started to finish my office last year I tried to lift the box of quarters and I could not believe how much it weighed, so I got them all out. There were $1200 in quarters sitting in a box in my office.

I took $1450 worth of quarters into the bank a couple of weeks ago. The shelf it was on was becoming disturbingly bowed, so I figured it was time to get it to the bank. I've got probably $200 more worth of dimes, nickels, and pennies still sitting on the bookshelf.

I sense another tattoo coming. :wink2:

The boys both have banks where they throw my loose change. I have no idea how much is in each one, but I figure it is around $100 in each.

some of it might go toward my tattoo that i'm getting on Aug. 29. That would have been my cousin's 18th birthday, and he was going to get a tattoo then, so his dad and I are both getting ink that day. I'm doing the flames on the back of my right leg, still not sure what his dad is getting.

Why does that not surprise me?

But then again I have about $100 worth of quarters at my house constantly as I am the banker for our quarter poker games every week.

A year ago I got one of those big containers for an office water cooler. It is filled up about a couple inches so far. My goal is to get it half full and cash it in to see how much I can get from it.

Half full and the bottom is likely to fall out when you try and lift it (you might need a dolly for that though).

I cashed in about $850 when I was in school (bartending) unfortunately I needed to use it to get a new tansmition for my truck at the time.
