What Do You Enjoy About Winter?

Yeah, it is not officially winter, but since we have snow on the ground I figured I would start this thread.

I took the boys sledding today. It was the first time they could really sled. Although we used to live in michigan the area we lived in was flatter than my prom date!

We went to a hill at the end of the street that was perfect for sledding. It was just the right size and had a small hill on the other side of the bottom of the larger hill so it made a nice bowl.

My older son, 5, was fearless. He spent over two hours sledding. My younger one, 3, spent more time by the big fire pit they had going. He liked watching the older kids throw snowballs into it.

Sushi - There was a couple from NC there with their three Goldens. One loved to ride in the sled down the hill while the other two liked to run alongside.

Mine too! I love to take my daughter sledding...although we can only do it when we go visit family back home since we really don't get much snow in Texas....But my daughter is almost 13 and she still loves to sled when we go back to Ohio!

Awesome! My mother's goldens love sledding, but I don't think I've done it with Barley yet. He would probably love it, though. He loves the snow.

In Boston, there really isn't such thing as a "snow day", but I love snowy weekends where you have an excuse to do absolutely nothing but cuddle, drink wine, and watch bad movies. :)

I love when it snows so much that no traffic is on the road. It's so quiet and peaceful. When I lived in North Carolina, we had a huge snowstorm, and everything was shut down for almost a week. I could walk down the middle of a busy highway with a bunch of other people and not worry about encountering any cars. It was great!

I also like cross-country skiing, but Manfred hates it. I need to bribe him into going with me sometime. :)

In order to enjoy snow, you must live somewhere where the clouds dump enough and the roadcrews and fellow drivers can handle it. A fresh foot of snow is a blast, whether it be skiing (either), pickup football (snowday), or sledding down sand dunes.

It is so beautiful & peaceful when tons of large snowflakes flutter to the ground (wind spoils the show at times). I love watching it from a warm house, or bundling up and enjoying the silence outside.

There may be drawbacks to TTUN, but the snow dustings and ice I've experienced down here (central OH & IN) makes me a litle homesick.
