What Are You Doing to Save The Planet?

Taosman

Your Cousin In New Mexxico
What are you doing to save the planet?
Are you driving a Hummer? We know who just got one!

Personally.
I have an energy efficient home.
My house is made from adobe bricks. Which absorb the sun and moderate the interior temperature. And the adobe is recyclable! It will melt back into the earth, eventually!

I have energy efficient appliances. I just got a stereo amplifier that uses just 7 watts! And I make use of low voltage and fluorescent lighting.

I have a Toyota Rav-4 that gets 30 mpg. I take fewer short trips.
I consolidate trips to town.

I re-cycle clothing to the Taos re-cycle box.

I re-cycle all glass and cardboard and tin cans. Taos doesn't re-cycle plastic.
Taos is building a ethanol from garbage plant. One of only two towns to do so.
I conserve water. I have drip irrigation of exterior plants and garden.
I'm buying and installing rainwater catchment barrels. For exterior watering.

We conserve water as much as possible (xeriscape gardens, drip irrigation, etc.)

My wife walks or bikes to work each day (about a mile from our house).

We recycle cardboard/paperboard/junkmail/glass/plastic/cans.

We planted a Buckeye tree in front of our house to provide shade and help cut down on urban heat. :)

I always close the iris when I come back to Earth through the Stargate. That way, the bad guys can't get through and threaten the safety of the planet.

I make sure to belch as loudly as possible, whenever I have the opportunity. It may not be helping the earth in your hippie tree-hugging standards, but maybe, just maybe, I'm bringing a smile to an immature 13-year-old's day. And aren't we, as people, part of this planet, too?

The world has come a long way from when my parents used to burn our trash when I was a kid. What do people do now-a-days if they don't have trash pick up? I try to run over any groundhog that I see standing on the side of the road. Does that count as saving the planet?
