Week 6 AP Poll: How They Voted

herbie can't let go of miami (#24). he had miami playing notre dame in the nc game, right?
I think right after they lost to FSU herbie said Miami was a team to watch out for. And that he was going to go out on an island and pick Miami to play.
Then they lost again hahahaha:biggrin:

if i were a georgia tech fan fan, i'd be pissed. you beat virginia tech by 11; however, the score diminishes the butt-whipping. georgia tech was winning 38-13 (!!!) going into the fourth quarter.

jeff white from va:
19. georgia tech
20. virginia tech

joe medley from al:
13. virginia tech
17. georgia tech

kevin pearson from ca:
19. virginia tech
21. georgia tech

ray ratto from ca: (please tell me that this is a mistake or that it's an old ballot!)
10. virginia tech
24. georgia tech

... and the list goes on. there needs to be accountability. at least posting the ballots is a step.

edit: ratto's ballot is listed as week 6's, so...

if Herbie posted here, i'd give him rubies for putting Miami at 24. the Canes are maybe a top 30 team, but NO WAY are they a top 25... and he dropped Iowa clean out of his top 25. if they played today, the Hawkeyes would destroy the Canes...

Exactly why they use multiple ballots. Individual ballots don't much bother me because the end results are typically pretty close. That's one thing that running the BP poll has made me realize.
i agree and understand, yet there should be formal accountability beyond mere posting of ballots. when there is an egregious misranking such as virginia tech being ranked 10th and georgia tech being ranked 24th, provided that there is no mistake, the pollster must validate his ballot.

Let's see. Ohio State pretty much dominated the then-#2 defending national champs on their turf, and pounded a tough #13 team also on their turf, with both games being premier nighttime matchups. West Virginia's two toughest opponents have been a mid-level MAC team (which will get killed by the top-tier MAC team we pounded) and a mid-level ACC team, both unranked and both at home.

How, precisely would this validation be performed?

precisely? i don't know. perhaps the balloters are already asked, at least privately, to validate their rankings by those in the committee who decide who has the privilege to provide their ballots. i can't speak to how often ap voters are replaced, if at all, based on their ballot history. again, unless there is a mistake with having gt #24 and vt #10 after this week, i don't know how such voters can continue to have the privilege.
