Webcam - Any advice?

I'm about to get a webcam in order to be able to do video calls.

Has anybody used one with MSN-IM or AIM? Any general advice?

How good a camera is needed (is 1.3 megapixels adequate)? I just want to be able to be seen.

Fortunately for the world, I won't be starting my own porn site. :tongue2:

I have an update. I bought a Logitech camera, hooked it up to a USB port, upgraded my AOL software, and the Webcam works with video AIM messages. It was fairly easy to do.

And my daughter is creating her own website to help pay for her college, here's her URL:

I am looking at getting one too...I have a pet at home that I would like to be able to keep an eye on and was hoping to get that done with a webcam. Did yours come with the ability to set up a web page to view your webcam or do you only use it with conferencing software.

We do the video conferencing here at work but I don't want to have to pay money if I can help it to spy on my own home.

Any suggestions are welcomed...

We connect just with AOL software, free of charge. I don't have a webpage, and I'm still hoping my daughter doesn't either.
