Paraguay had a goal waved off in the first half on an offside call, which was correct despite the goal scorer being onside - since the guy that was offside made a play for the ball in the air, even though he didn't make contact.
Bizarre sequence in the second half, when the game was still scoreless. Paraguay was awarded a PK when during their corner kick, Pique was yellow carded for using two hands to yank the arm of a guy closing on the ball. On the PK, Casillas made a diving save, but there were two Spaniards clearly well into the box when the ball was struck.
Seconds later, Villa was taken down in the box from behind and Spain was awarded a PK. Xabi Alonso made the PK, but was forced to re-take it because Spain was encroaching into the box. On the re-take, the ball was stopped but a rebound allowed. On the rebound, A Spanish player touched the ball past the side of the Paraguay keeper, who then took the man down. Nothing was given for that, so the game was still scoreless.
In the 83rd minute, Iniesta beat a couple of defenders, then made a good pass to Pedro at the top of the box. His shot hit the post but went right to Villa, whose ball hit both posts before crossing the line.
David Villa now leads the WC with 5 goals, with 5 other players having 4.
