way to adjust laptop brightness throuch control panel

i have a laptop and my button my little blue button that is part of the adjustment to turn up my brightness is busted. anyway i can go through control panel or something to fix it?

generally, one of the function keys adjusts brightness. somewhere between f5 and f8 is the usual area. what brand is it?

it is a dell. it has a little blue button that you use with the up and down keys to adjust brightness. the little blue key doesnt work anymore.

try the fn and the up/down arrow keys.

Hopefully the little blue button is not the Fn key? If you have a working Fn key then depress that and tap the up arrow to increase, or the down arrow to decrease brightness.

The only thing I can think is the bios, if the FN key is broke you might be sol :(

enable the "external hot key" option in the system setup program. then use "scroll lock" instead of "fn."

Seems Dell Fn keys are NOT open to remapping, as they did not have an original code under the registry. You really may be SOL.
Unless the scroll option mentioned earlier works.

wait i can use Fn to get this "456*0.+" but not the "123" is that really odd to anyone else?

and the up and down buttons work.

Are you sure the Fn button really isn't working? Is the Dell Quickset program running in the system tray? Sometimes the Fn keys won't work well without Quickset running.
