Vikings players accused of criminal sexual conduct

Cruise on lake became wild party that included lap dances, lawyer for boat company says

ST. PAUL, MINN. - The Hennepin County Sheriff's department is investigating allegations of criminal sexual conduct by Vikings players after a boat cruise on Lake Minnetonka devolved into an out-of-control party including lap dances and sexual acts, according to an attorney for the charter boat company.

Stephen Doyle, a lawyer representing the owners of Al and Alma's, a company that charters cruises on the lake, said cornerback Fred Smoot and another Vikings player, whom he declined to name, reserved two boats for a night-time excursion last Thursday.
A woman called Mound police Thursday night to report allegations of "possible prostitution, drugs and live sex acts" on the two boats. According to the police report, Ann Johnson said she served as a hostess.
Doyle said he learned details of what allegedly happened when he sat down Tuesday with six of the eight crew members.
Doyle said about 90 people were on the two boats.
On Tuesday, Smoot indicated that the allegations are exaggerated: "It's slanderous. If (Doyle is) bringing my name up like this, I'm going to sue them. Other than that, I ain't got nothing else to say."
The Vikings released a statement Tuesday night: "The organization has been made aware of the allegations involving our players and we take these allegations very seriously. We are working diligently to gather as many facts as possible."
Sgt. Haans Vitek of the Hennepin County Sheriff's department said the investigation is ongoing.
Doyle said that the boats "were out for a bit, and the crew was serving drinks and hors d'oeuvres and stuff," he said. "I think the first thing they noticed was some of the women that were onboard seemed to be either changing clothes or undressing. And then they went into a galley, and there were three of them in the nude that were changing clothes. That was followed by them coming out and some of them doing lap dances."
Doyle said that the crew feared for its safety from the unruly players. "There are people doing sexual acts with toys in the middle of the floor. They're ... having to walk around and serve a drink, afraid to stop serving drinks because they're afraid that people will hurt them."
Doyle said he planned to meet today with the police.
An NFL spokesman declined comment on the allegations against Vikings players, but the league's personal conduct policy states that league employees can be subject to discipline.

When ever I see a story like this I am sceptical until more facts are shown. It probally has to do with the fact that i am a Bengals fan, and years ago a woman said that she was raped by a bunch of the black players on the team. As it turned out she IDed Boomer Esiason who isn't black, Reggie Rembrant who wasn't on the team when the incident happened and Ickey Woods who was on IR and didn't make the trip to seattle. Obviously the charges turned out to be a lie. So lets just wait and see what happens with this incident with the Vikings

I think you mean Reggie Rembert not to be confused with Rembrandt.

Yeah, some chick and her professor concocted some kind of sexual assault deal against Jerome Bettis a few years ago too IIRC, for extortion purposes. These guys are all targets. I'll wait and see what the cops say. Hope Winfield isn't the unnamed player...

I cannot believe the waitstaff was complaining about this, maybe they were not all males. But anyway, unless there were threats to the waitstaff, I don't see the HUGE problem with this. Its a strip club on a boat. Maybe the waitstaff didn't sign up for that type of party, and if they were poorly treated then its fine and they were properly brought back to shore.

But as for the other "lewd acts" strippers having sex with football players is not a big deal. Strippers will have sex with LOTS of people if they think that there is a sugar daddy angle to it. Were there any rape allegations? If not, then this is not news and should not be a big deal. Consenting adults partying on boats, having sex?

So, if the players had rented one of those super-luxurious buses and did the same thing, or rented a large private jet and banged some hoes at 30,000 feet, would that be "misconduct"? If they're out on a lake or up in the air, and no one else can see them, then I'd say that's pretty much a private affair. Unless their were drugs or prostitution, I see no problem.

If the employees of the boat company were offended by how Smoot and Smith acted, they can complain to company management and the company can refuse to rent boats to them in the future.

    Lake Minnetonka

I used to live there (for about 6 months with my cousins before I moved to New York)

Home of Tonka Toys and Minnetonka Moccisons.

    Party lake.

One of my cousins still lives there. I was there in July.

And so ends my 15 minutes.....

ickey was so happy he did his shuffle on the courthhouse steps after being acquitted.4.The Ickey ShuffleIn 1988, the Bengals' Ickey Woods debuted his hulking touchdown dance, in which he heavily shuffled from foot to foot, passing the ball back and forth from hand to hand. The NFL banned the Ickey Shuffle as "unprofessional demonstration," but Ickey kept the Shuffle going on the sideline. Later, he performed it on the courthouse steps after a rape-related lawsuit had been dismissed against him and several other teammates.

    International Waters

Anyone hear about what happened when they got off the boat?

One of the players was confronted by police, and he retorted:

"You can't touch us, we were in International Waters!"

The cop then told him that Lake Minnetonka is America, and he was only about 10 miles outside of Minneapolis.

    His reply?

    "Oh shit."
