Verizon and ringback tones

BuckeyeSkins

Go Bucks/Hail to the Redskins!!
I'm not sure how many others here have Verizon as their wireless carrier but Verizon has something called "ringback" tones. You can download them and when people call you instead of the standard ring, the caller will here the ringback tone you have. There are all types available in all genres of music. There is also one for sports. When I saw this I thought it would be cool to have some Ohio State music played for anyone who calls me. When I looked at the list the only thing available was something called "Ohio Cheer". I have no idea what it is and didn't recognize it. They did however have fight songs for schools such as Brown, Baylor and Ball State (a big demand for those I imagine) and of course ND, scUM and the World Cup (go figure).

I sent several emails to Verizon voicing my utter disbelief that they didn't have anything remotely related to Ohio State. Of course, all I got back in return were canned responses that didn't address the subject of my email. "We will forward your concerns to our marketing department". The usual brush off.

A couple weeks ago I sent another email to them regarding the same subject and in their response they said someone from the marketing department would be contacting me. I thought yeah right. Lo and behold last week I got a phone call from a lady in the marketing department from Verizon. She went on to tell me that within the next 2-3 weeks there will be 3 ringback tones for Ohio State available to download. Across the Field, Buckeye Battle Cry and Carmen Ohio.

I guess perserverance sometimes does pay off.

My wife discovered that telemarketers cant get thru with ringback on. The systems don't know what to do when music is played instead of ringing I guess. All we know is she was getting 4-5 dumb calls a day, and as soon as she turned ringback on, she doesnt get anything but a half a ring and they quit.

BTW I hate the service, I think its annoying as hell and had her turn it off when I call her.

Following up on the original post.......as of today, there are 3 Ohio State ringback tones now available for Verizon folks. Buckeye Battle Cry, Carmen Ohio and Across the Field. Probably no biggie to most but I like the idea of those tunes playing when someone calls me.

And no Teddy I'm not looking for an award or plaque and I do smile when something strikes me as funny.
