UNC at Duke

9:00 on ESPN.

Roy Williams has to be the ACC coach of the year, possibly national coach of the year. UNC lost its top 7 scorers, and they still get second in the ACC.

Probably the second biggest rivalry in all of sports(behind OSU vs. Michigan.)
 
Human nature as it is folks root for undergods and excellent teams become anathema over time. Such is the case with Duke. You can hate them, but they are good. Never so much as a hint of impropriety on the part of Coach K. He just recruits great players and turns out good teams year after year.

I loved to see UCLA lose back when Wooden was there. But look back now and he is arguably the best ever. Coach K is right there with him.

But it is UNC that will be our nemesis. If OSU is to compete for the NC in the next few years it will be against the team which ranks second in the ACC despite 4 true Frosh in its top seven scorers and which brings in a class comparable to our own.

I rarely plan to watch games that do not include OSU, but this one has been on my calendar for some time.

Let me retract one statemen - nobody can ever compare to what Wooden accomplished.

I could careless who wins this game, i hate them both. i would love to seem some other teams win the title like The Ohio State University!

I think reddick is great and all, but they are way to cocky. UNC won it last year of a tough Illinios team. I hate win the B10 goes down againest other coneferences

I honestly think a lot of the hate for Dook is the same reason that people hate Notre Lame in football. It is b/c the media puts them on a pedestal like they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, so everyone wants to see them lose.

Most people will respect them and acknowledge that they are great programs, but everyone that is not a fan loves it when they lose.

As for UNC they are not as hated they are not shoved down our throats as much now since Dean Smith has left, and I think if Roy Williams continues to win then that could get back to where it was.

But the media lovefest will always be there for Dook. Hell they are even taping the damn crowd this weekend at the game for crying out loud. You can watch what the crowd does during the game on ESPNU.

Who gives a fuck???

I understand, but Duke was nothing till Coach K came and made it into a powerhouse.

I see Notre Dame getting attention year in and year out even if they play mediocre, but Duke has a quality ballclub every year.

I would understand if Duke had some mediocre teams but they don't.

I understand what you are saying, but other teams are good too, but I think Dook has been on national tv as many times as there have been Big Ten, Big East, and Big XII games combined.

You have guys like Dickie V, Bilas, etc. that show thier undying love for Dook, and it is kind of sickening to people.

What people think if Kirk Herbstreit went on Gameday and talked up tOSU everychance he got and then the announcers doing the games were all about us too. THen you turn on SC and what do you see leading off Dook vs sisters of the poor. Whats up next The number 2 team vs. number 3.

It also seems like the best player from Dook, while a lot of times they are very good, are always the poster child for college bball. I mean all I hear about this year is JJ Reddick. I can name more players from Dook than I can just about any other college bball team and it is not b/c they are having successful careers in the NBA it is b/c they basically get marketed why they are in college.

Then you have Coach K and all his commercials, and now we get to watch the cameron crazies on tv.

When is enough enough.

I actually respect Dook as a program and know that there really isnt but maybe 5 teams in college bball that can even come close to putting themselves in a discussion with Dook for best programs for the past 15 or so years. I guess I just have a pet peeve with media darlings, and that is why alot of people want to see Dook lose.

It can be compared to a lot of things, Notre Dame football, USC football(past 3 years), Yankees/Redsox(I can't stand the rivalry b/c that is all you hear about all year, and they play every single game(all 19) on espn), Lakers(hell even when they are bad they are all they talk about), Beyonce Knowles, Bill Clinton, Brady Quinn's sister's face showing up 700 times in the span of 3 days leading up to the fiesta bowl.

I understand that these are the things that get viewers, but when it is something that you are just not into for whatever reason(not your favorite team, seen it enough, or just flat out have had enough of it) you just start to hate it b/c you have seen enough of it.

I'm confused why this confuses you. This is how america treats any team that is dominant. The yankees have an outstanding ballclub every year, which is precisely why they are hated. Obviously there are other factors, such as the lack of parity in baseball, but if the yankees did not win as often they would not be hated that much.
