Using Faculty/Staff tickets when you aren't

darbygirl

Newbie
I am a former Buckeye, live in Florida. Bought two tickets from a reputable Internet site. Got the tickets and they are Faculty/Staff tickets and the seller sent his expired photo faculty id with an envelope to send it back. I did look him up on OSU's website and he is indeed on the faculty.

I spoke with the seller and he says I shouldn't have any trouble using this expired id. I had found a Q & A for students on OSU's website and it says if a student wants to give his ticket to someone he can, but he also has to give them his id to use.

Does anyone know if this will work? My husband and 15 year old son will be driving up to Ohio from Florida for the game and would like some insight.

Thanks,

Darbygirl

I think technically you are not supposed to used "discounted" (faculty) tickets unless you are OSU staff or faculty, or unless the ticket holder 'upgrades' to Public Tix. So I guess technically, they could run into some problems (i.e., not faculty/staff trying to use discounted tix, have an expired ID, you cannot upgrade discount tix on game day).

But I've seen other similar questions where many many people have said they've done this themselves or let others use their tickets and IDs, and I don't recall anyone saying that they ran into trouble.

So while I'd be a bit nervous attempting this, making such a long trip, without an 'air-tight' plan, others will probably tell you not to fear.

There is also a 'Faculty/Staff Tickets Policies' link at the OSU Athletics site as well as the Student Tix tab with more info.

The other option would be to pay the extra money at the ticket office to "upgrade" the tickets to a public ticket, then you are guaranteed not to have a problem. I would be just as nervous about the expired ID as anything else.

I have used faculty tickets in the past ( with the ID ) and had no problems.
The person I recieved the ID and tickets from told me he called the ticket office before he baught his tickets and was told it was ok to do this.

Option A: PURCHASE TICKETS AT DISCOUNTED FACULTY/STAFF RATE

Faculty/staff may purchase their season tickets at the discounted rate of $336 per season ticket. Tickets will be printed on "faculty/staff ticket stock" that is very distinctive and will identify that ticket as requiring a current OSU ID for admittance

One OSU ID will be good for admitting two faculty/staff tickets into the stadium as long as those tickets arrive at the gate together.

Faculty/staff can give their tickets to anyone else with a valid OSU ID. The name on the ticket will not need to match the OSU ID

Faculty/staff that elect to purchase their season tickets at the discounted rate can upgrade tickets on a game by game basis.

You're fine. They don't scan the BuckID's, you just have to briefly flash it. They can't tell that the ID is expired, as long as it's one of the newer red ones. The older gray ones might not fly.

Cleve is correct. Most of the time they don't even ask for ID and when they do you could probably flash your Kroger Plus card and walk on in. (It is security who checks these, not the ticket folks.)

As for the upgrade, I don't believe you can pay for the upgrade unless you are the person who purchased the tickets.
