The former Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year has the chance to be an NFL steal.

No one has ever played in more games (55) at Ohio State than Tyquan Lewis. And after returning to Columbus for a fifth year— following his graduation with a degree in sociology—, Lewis will now be continuing his football career as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, who selected the defensive lineman with the No. 64 pick to end out the second round of the NFL Draft.

A two-time first-team All-Big Ten Selection, Lewis was the 2016 Big Ten Smith-Brown Defensive Lineman of the Year. In his four seasons on the field, Lewis recorded 23.5 sacks and 36.5 tackles for loss, forcing five fumbles. His sack total ranks him fifth all-time at Ohio State. While seeing limited playing time during his red-shirt freshman year, Lewis has been consistent in the sack department since, notching 8, 8, and 7 in the subsequent years.

A two-time team captain, Lewis had long been a highly respected member of the Ohio State community, both on and off the field. However, as he moves to the NFL, he will need to work on his technique, as he is not the elite-level athlete that most impact defensive linemaen are.

Scouts are concerned that he is not especially smooth or fluid with his movements at the point of attack, and can be pushed around. However, his size and initial speed should be enough to allow him to have favorable match-ups against interior offensive lineman. Clearly he has shown that he can be productive in one of the best conferences in the country, and playing alongside elite talent on the defensive line.

Congrats to Tyquan on realizing his dream of playing at the next level.
