Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

Stop!

Bad as Beck is, I'm thinking he's nonetheless a big step up from whoever's there now.

And he sure as shit ain’t worth the seven figures they pay in AA. But, then again, I guess that he could be a good value for them if he got a total of 10 TD passes in an entire season from their QB room. That’s like an incremental 11% effectiveness.

You really should go back and read through this thread, Nebraska fans warned us, and we certainly could have warned you of what was coming.

That's actually why I decided to come back to BP after so long- reading the 2016 posts on this thread is like a mirror image of UT offensive discussion this year. Don't laugh, but before the season, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. That was gone after the Maryland game. Every defense with a pulse shut us down. Using the QB as a battering ram 20 times a game while elite running backs get 8 carries. No sense of down and distance and definitely no grand strategy. Just a bunch of random hot garbage. It goes on and on. Just painful, awful football to watch.

The play-calling in the Tech game might have actually gotten him demoted. We will see. There are rumors that the 10th assistant will be a new OC, and Beck will move to QB coach or something. Not holding out hope though. I generally like Herman but I'm afraid his arrogance and stubbornness will be his downfall. So I'm preparing myself for a frustrating 2018 season. Maybe Orlando will threaten to leave, and he should if next year's offense is the same. The putrid offense has really overshadowed how brilliant he's been as DC. Without him and the Dickson (the punter), the record this year could have been a lot worse than 7-6.

In a college football coach ranking of "How in the hell does he still have a job," does anyone top Tim Beck? Maybe Michigan's QB coach?

I visited shaggy a few times and let them know how bad he is/was and several guys climbed all over me but some were objective.

The worst thing that could happen might be him get demoted to QB coach, because JT and Cardale both obviously regressed under his tutelage and Day obviously helped JT with some of the bad habits he picked up from dipshidt.

Adding on to what @Hstead said about keeping Beck away from your QBs... consider...

JT Barrett IV

If you look at pretty much any QB record in the Ohio State record books, you'll see that name at the top of it. If you check out some B1G records, like.. say.. most TD passes or most TDs.... you'll see his name. Literally the best QB to ever step foot on campus.... And people are thrilled to see him go.

Why, you ask? Well, see, JT didn't improve during his Soph and Jr. seasons....

I'll give you 1 guess as to who was coaching him those two seasons (a fact seemingly forgotten by the people in our fan base who disagree with my "greatest QB ever" comment above)

JT rebounded fairly well this year too but the past two seasons of habits was just too strong to cure 100% IMO. Every time I see this threat I smile now knowing he's no where near our QB's.

Seems apt here as well...

I think former schools who employed him should be able to take him to court for stealing. If he was a stock it would've turned out to be a fraud and a class action would've been commenced. It has to be frustrating having him there because even if he gets demoted (like he did here) he's still near/close to your offense and that'll be enough to render it useless.

Exactly Alex.. It's sort of angering to me to be honest. How does someone so poor at their job get paid what he gets paid? I can suck every bit as much as him for 1/2 the cost
