The Pussification of Ohio Winters

gregorylee

I'd rather be napping!!
I haven't even been able to get the kids out sledding this year.... We used to have real winters, when the snow was at least on the ground for a month or two. Closing school for 2 inches, road crews ill prepared, it's embarrassing.

Hell that's nothing , Why in my day we had real winters where the temp went below freezing every day for weeks. You buncha winter pansies don't even know what real winter is .

Did you have to walk 5 miles in the snow, uphill, both ways, to get to school?

Did you ski down Iron Mountain and make snow forts in the backyard?

I will gladly trade our winters for yours though, I have lived in Erie, PA for the last 9 years. I saw a piece on the weather channel today about some midwestern cities possibly having the snowiest winters in their history. Detroit, St Louis and Madison to name a few and every one of their record winter snowfalls were less than 100 inches, we average 102 inches per winter. Let me tell you, the snow isn't all it's cracked up to be. All I can remember is the week after Christmas about 4 years ago when in the span of 3 days we got 4 FEET of snow. Fuck the snow.

It's very true that our winters are nothing like they used to be but that is mostly due to climate change. Back in the 1800's Ohio was a far different place. Snow would fall many times at least a foot in 1 snow storm and temp. were in the low 20's from Dec. through March. Now we have so many warm spells and barely get any snow.
